Take it to the Maxi

So, I know you maxi naysayers are going to say…not another maxi dress post! I apologize. I can’t help myself. The prevalence of seventies style in the spring collections and my neverending love for the maxi requires me to continue to try to convince those of you that think you can’t wear them that you CAN! I know I’ve told you this before, but it bears repeating. I am by no means tall. However, by rockin’ heels or getting my frocks hemmed, I have no trouble steppin’ out in a slew of maxis. Try wearing maxis in one head to toe color or ones with vertical lines to make you appear taller if you’re height challenged like myself. Or go for broke and say to heck with the rules by trying out a vibrant print!

I know many of you are experiencing frigid temps right now. Never fear. By throwing a little cropped jacket on over your maxi, you can make the look season appropriate. You might want to throw a parka on over your jacket though. HAHA. This look from Adam’s Spring 2011 collection illustrates what I’m talking about to a tee…And make sure you check out the whole collection over at Style.com. Each piece is divinely flattering!

Oh man, I covet that DVF dress. Alas, $345 isn’t in my shopping budget!

But I do own something like 15 maxis, so I’m definitely in your camp =)

Love the DVF print! I have always loved the look of maxis but I’ve never felt that I’m tall enough for such a lengthy dress!

Okay, okay… I give in. I never thought a maxi dress would look good on my petite self, but I’ll give it a shot! 😛 That Diane von Furstenberg maxi is just too gorgeous!

I LOVE these dresses but I’m shivering as I look at them. The high today is like 36 degrees so a little cropped jacket wouldn’t cut it!! I’ll be glad when spring gets here.

Those are cute. I can only wear one in the house now. LOL or with some 20 inch high boots. We’re just getting over the blizzard here in Chicago. But the summer I’m going to be ready!

I absolutely love this style of dress, because it’s something I feel like I can pull off. That is, of course, if it’s designed with short people in mind. Otherwise I end up tripping on them. 😉

I have been all over this since a couple of summer’s ago when the maxi dress first cropped up again. I remember running to Target to get a brown jersey maxi dress, and now I am so glad that it is materializing again in the form of silk skirts and flowy dresses.

Well I am happy to say I am NOT a naysayer of maxi dresses 🙂 I actually really like them. They’re so comfortable and flowy and still chic. Maybe this is weird, but I feel out of place wearing them in New England, but when I’m in Florida or someplace tropical, it seems perfectly appropriate.

It’s a great argument. And I still look at them and want to try. But I get so caught up with comparing myself to tall people and how awesome they look in a maxi…I will try harder not too 🙂

If the dress is the correct length, it will only elongate the body. Espesh if it’s a solid colored dress. I love the maxi!

I’m sure you won’t be catching too many maxi dresses in NYC this February! It’s freezing out here and it’s snowing on a weekly basis! However, I could see this being a nice transition for the warmer weather months 🙂

I’ve always like longer length skirts and dresses. They’re fun to wear and so much easier to get out of cars in. But I have an aunt in her 80s who once told me I looked like a bag lady in a long swirly skirt. Of course, I didn’t look like your models!
