Connecting with Loved Ones Across the Miles

If you’ve read this blog a few times or more, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that best friends run it…from thousands of miles apart. Megan and I haven’t lived in the same zip code in like a decade…and our friendship hasn’t changed a bit. We talk on the phone at least once a week and chat online ALL the time.

skype, keeping in touch, staying connected

And when that’s just not enough…luckily there are technological miracles like Skype. One thing that really bothers me about us not living in the same city is that I’m not around in person to watch my bestie’s adorable little man, Jake, grow up. The last time I held him he was a teeny tiny newborn and now he’s racing around like a little Tasmanian devil! Being able to see him on the screen softens the blow. And the dude just loves to call Auntie Megan! In fact, he did so just the other day without my knowledge. He’s gifted, that kids. Haha! I’m so grateful that we live in an age when keeping connected like this is possible. I want Jake to know who Auntie Kristin is and being able to see me even when I’m not around is going to be invaluable!

So, how do you stay connected to your loved ones lovelies? Isn’t being able to see each other while you keep in touch from miles apart the coolest!?!

Thank goodness for technology! My two best friends and I have lived apart from each other since high school and from the way we talk, you would never know it! Facebook, text messages, Gmail chat are total lifesavers! 🙂

Love Skype and also use HeyTell a lot on my iPhone with one of my best friends. A great tool for short messages and easy when you have babies because you don’t have to text.

Skype has been great! Especially for grandparents who want to read a bedtime story to the little. And of course texting and instant chatting keeps me and the BFFs connected during our busy day-to-days, despite being miles and miles apart.
