Remember when I shared the beautiful Sauder Tall Bookshelf that I decorated this summer? Well, as much as I loved the every day look I created with it, I couldn’t resist revamping my favorite new piece of furniture so it reflected the current season…that being fall. And when I think of fall, I think of both Halloween AND Thanksgiving. So, I decorated my bookshelf for both holidays. That way you could see how simple it is to transition from one holiday to the next with your decor.
We brought out our Halloween decorations this week and while the hubs took care of the outside, I inserted a little spooky spirit inside our home. What I love so much about this Sauder bookshelf is how easy it is style. The cubbyhole type setup serves as both a home for decor and storage space at the same time. With kiddos around, anytime I can add more storage to our lives, I’m a happy girl. You fellow mamas know how much your house fills up with stuff when you have wee ones. Having extra storage definitely helps keep things more organized.
Back to the holiday decorating…First, I simply switched out some of my every day decorative accents for Halloween themed ones and in no time flat, it felt a whole lot more festive! I kept the baskets to store odds and ends, but I still had plenty of room to have fun with the decorations.
Then when it was time to switch out the Halloween decorations for ones with more of a Thanksgiving feel, I simply added some candles, gourds and whatnot. If you don’t want to bother transitioning your fall decorations, things like gourds and candles really work all season long. So, what are some of your ideas for easy decorating for the holidays?
