As I’ve gotten older I’ve really grown to love Valentine’s Day. It’s a holiday that, for me, never had the pressure of New Year’s Eve. Rather, I like to focus the day more on showing little signs of appreciation for my husband, friends and family than going all out on an expensive gift. A small gesture goes a long way in telling someone that you notice how much they do and that you care and find meaning in it. This time of year is just perfect for that.
Here’s one small Valentine’s Day surprise that takes mere minutes to arrange, is budget friendly, and brought a huge smile to my husband’s face. Who doesn’t want to come home after a long day of work and see this waiting for them? I mean I might also hand him a crying six-week-old baby for his other arm, but at least he has a frosty beverage to ease him into Dad duty.
All I needed was a piece of craft paper, a small rectangle of white paper, string, tape, scissors and a marker. These are alll items I tend to have on hand. I simply created a border out of the craft paper, wrote a cute saying on the white paper, taped them together, and tied the string in a bow around one of his favorite craft brews.
To make it feel even a little more special I set up the beer bottle with glasses and coasters on a tray. The pub glasses were actually a gift I got for him at Christmas from Red Envelope that shows our last name as the brewing company. He loved them! And having the drinks ready to go makes the everyday feel more celebratory.
So, that’s all there is to it. A nice easy Valentine’s Day surprise for him or that someone special in your life. What little things do you like to do to celebrate or show someone you care?
