For me, the Oscars are the equivalent of the Super Bowl. I love it all from the speculation leading up to the big night to the fashion and, of course, all the hype from friends. One of our dear friends growing up always had an Oscar party that was an affair to remember. One of the most memorable elements was her Oscar Party Dinner Menu dedicated to the Best Picture nominations. The idea being that each of the nominated films were coordinated to a course either through their title, the location of the movie or even a food that was instrumental to the plot. It’s a great way to get creative and have fun with the evening whether it’s just you and your best friend, partner or a whole group watching. And, sure, some items can be store bought or you can divide and conquer, giving each person invited a movie and course assignment and letting them in on the fun.
Having a small baby means that this year the party will be just the family in the family room, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still have fun with it and root for our favorite flicks. Kristin and I will probably also be texting like crazy since we tend to watch award shows together virtually. Oh, and of course you can’t forget the ballot! The Oscar site has a great one that you can either print out or enter your picks online. Below is my take on this year’s menu. Based on your favorite movie, what would you do?
A Delicious Night At The 87th Oscars, Best Picture Menu
Wet Your Appetite
Red, White and Blue Martini, American Sniper
Duck Spring Rolls, Birdman
Code Crackers with Crab Dip, The Imitation Game
Alabama BBQ Sliders, Selma
Macaroni and Cheese Bites, Boyhood
Courtesan au Chocolat, The Grand Budapest Hotel
Black “Donut” Holes, The Theory of Everything
