For most of us, finding great jeans is tough. A few weeks ago I went through my entire closet with my Mom as audience and donated about two thirds of my closet. This included a mountain of old jeans just needing to go. You see, for the last 5 years I have either been trying to have a baby, pregnant, or losing weight from having a baby. And now that those years are behind me, I’m ready to have a closet full of clothes that fit and look great.
So when I got the chance to review four pairs of jeans from the new Target denim line, I jumped at the chance. It’s the perfect time to try an array of styles and really decide which fits and washes are my best looks.
When I opened the box I knew right away a few of the styles were going to push me outside of my comfort zone. Which is great! It’s time, ladies! And taking photos like the ones in this post are a great way to test out a look on yourself. I can look at a photo and be way more objective about a style on my body than when I’m looking in the mirror five minutes before I have to head out the door. So now that I’ve had a few weeks with the jeans I thought we would break it down. Let’s get going!
Overall I was really pleasantly happy with the fit. I’m typically a size 8 and each pair buttoned and fit as it was intended. No need to lay down on the bed to get them zipped up, or any other crazy antics. Also, I thought the material was really soft and comfortable for all four pairs.
Pair 1: The high rise jegging in a dark wash. By far this was my favorite pair out of the group and officially my new go-to jean. I was surprised how much I love the high rise but for me it was great to be able to run about all day long and not worry about what was showing in the back. I also felt like they were the most flattering and made my thighs look thin which was fab. Ha! Finally, being able to dress these way up or way down was helpful throughout my day as I went from daycare to an event. Feeling the love here!
Pair 2: The high rise jegging in an acid wash. These jeggings are just like the ones above and fit great. The only difference was the wash, which took me some getting used to. I felt like the wash was not as flattering on my legs but that it does give off a cool vibe. For me, these would be perfect for winter with a large sweater and boots. Great for when I need an edgier vibe but not my everyday look.
Pair 3: The flare in a light wash. This was the pair that really surprised me. In the past I’ve been hesitant to try flare jeans since they are often too short on me. This pair was the opposite. They are really long which I loved since I tend to think flare jeans look best with high heels. Also, they were very flattering and I felt skinny in them all day long. Priceless!
Pair 4: The distressed boyfriend. I tend to like the distressed boyfriend jeans but ultimately I didn’t love the flannel backing on the distressed areas. For me they were too casual feeling and it added a layer of needing to coordinate against the flannel when getting dressed. That said they were very comfortable and I could see them working great for a student or someone who dresses casually on the regular.
So now that you’ve seen the photos do you agree with me? What is your favorite pair for me? That’s the thing about jeans though. We all have our own signature look and preference. Given how great these all felt I can’t wait to get in there and try on a few more styles.
How about you? Are you going to find your @targetstyle?!
