Turn Your Kitchen Island Into a Summer Tablescape

It’s summer and that means much more casual dining. Whether inside or out, try turning that kitchen island into a summer tablescape! It’s so easy…

I love yellow and summer just screams for that color. Start with your flowers…Sunflowers and lilies are in abundance this time of year, so what makes for a more perfect summer arrangement?!? Keep the items you often have around on your island, like fruit and herbs, and incorporate them into your arrangement, as well.

Placemats instead of a full tablecloth are perfect on an island and more neutral colored plates and napkins add to the summer lightness. Using sprigs of the flowers from your arrangement on your napkins can create a nice summery touch for your summer tablescape. And, the effect is just so pretty!!

Lemons and limes, along with a couple of herb plants transforms your kitchen island from a workstation to a beautiful dining scene. Isn’t it perfect? All that green and yellow simply define summer at its best. As red is my favorite accent color for everything, I used cherry tomatoes and a few other accent pieces to give the ultimate summer pop of color.

As always, candles are a must on any tablescape. Using different heights create a bit of a dramatic touch which will provide all the light you need as the natural sunlight dims to darkness. Wow!

And, finally, I pulled my fun “Celebrate” flutes out to finish off the ambiance I was trying to create. A bottle of local Oregon wine a certain must to complete the feel. I can’t wait to have dinner tonight! Who’s with me?
