Easy DIY Peppermint Playdough

My daughter loves loves loves to DIY it up. Whether we’re doing something as simple a cutting out snowflakes or cooking up something a bit more involved like this easy peppermint playdough, if we’re creating, she’s a happy girl. And this mama wants to foster that creative little brain of hers!

ingredients

Ingredients:

1 cup of all purpose flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
1.5 tablespoons vegetable oil
1.5 tablespoons cream of tartar
4 drops Therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil (2 drops per color)

Directions:

1. combine your flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a mixing bowl and mix
2. Add in your water and vegetable oil and mix
3. Now you can mix in your therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil
4. Pour half your mixture into a small sauce pan and add red food coloring
5. Turn your burner to medium heat
6. Cook for 2-3 minutes while stirring constantly with a spatula, making sure to scrape the bottom of your pot while stirring to make sure nothing burns
7. After about 1 minute your mixture should get clumpy, a little more clumpy, then form into a ball of play dough.

8. Let your playdough cool on a plate for about 15 minutes before you use
9. Repeat steps 4-8 for your white playdough
10. We always wash our hands after use so the little ones don’t rub their eyes after
