Growing up, I always came to breakfast on Valentine’s Day to find a little basket of treats or a wrapped present. It was such a fun way to start the day and get excited for the school parties and handing out of valentines. Of course now that the tables have turned, I want to make the day special for my boys. Having kids makes every holiday so much more fun. Oh the enthusiasm! It’s so contagious!
For Jake this year, I thought I would go all out and make him a train themed Valentine’s Day basket using Hershey’s Valentine’s Day products. This kid is SO in love with trains! It was really easy and I love being the start of his special day and spreading the #HSYMessageOfLove.
Making the basket was easy. I used one of the little square boxes with a chalk front that I had on hand. I originally got these at Target and use them to store toys in. I’m no artist, so I then did a google search on “how to draw a train” and so many easy step-by-step instructions came up. I was pretty happy with my first freehand effort, ha!
Next, I placed one of this train blankets in the bottom of the wooden basket as filler and loaded it with his favorite Hershey’s treats like Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Hearts filled with Caramel and a Reese’s Peanut Butter 5 oz. Heart. Yum! They have so many cute Valentine’s Day options! I also included an old fashioned train whistle for extra fun.
To make the presentation an even bigger surprise, I used train tracks to make a circle around the Valentine’s Day basket. Some of his trains circling the treats is a fun way to reinforce the train theme.
I’d say someone has already picked out his favorite Hershey’s chocolate treat!
That’s my easy to make, train themed Valentine’s Day basket. Something tells me it will be a huge hit on Valentine’s Day and help spread our #HSYMessageOfLove. What traditions do you do for Valentine’s Day?! Have you tried any of the delicious Hershey’s Valentine’s Day sweets?
