Williamsburg, Virginia is a location that is near and dear to my heart. You might recall, that right before we had Max, we decided to take one last trip as a family of three. Williamsburg had been on my list of places that to visit and since its just a few short hours away from me in Maryland, it was the ideal spot. We had such a wonderful time and I get so sappy happy when I look at these photos and remember how little Jake was, how BIG I was, and all our family smiles. I mean that’s what it’s all about right? Making memories together!
If you haven’t been, I urge you to check it out and consider it for your next getaway. It’s such a fun spot and includes Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Of course planning a summer vacation with several family members can be tricky. You want to make sure that everyone will enjoy their time and find something they love to do.
Well there are zero problems with that in Greater Williamsburg. With so many options everyone truly has the freedom to have FUN!
In addition to the neat historical sites full of reenactments and hands-on learning that Greater Williamsburg offers, your family will love the action packed rollercoasters and rides at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. For little ones the park even has great age appropriate areas complete with some of their most beloved Sesame Street characters. Um, why hello there, ELMO! He’s kind of a big deal in my house.
And if you are a nature lover, the outdoors are right at your fingertips. For our trip we packed Jake’s bike and enjoyed gorgeous trails and hikes at the nearby parks. The Virginia Capital Bike Trail, York River State Park, New Quarter Park and Freedom Park are all great spots.
It is so nice to be able to incorporate several activities on vacation to keep things exciting and fresh. There are even options for kayaking, go-karts, a pirate sail out of Yorktown, and more. Ahoy!
There truly is something for everyone so the whole family will be all smiles. I personally have my eye on that Colonial Wine Trail. I think the grandparents may need to come on our trip so the hubby and I can sip and relax.
Let’s all make some memories this year and make sure to check out what Greater Williamsburg has to offer your family this summer. Who knows, maybe we will see each other there!
