Summer Style Trend: Poms

shorts outfit

There are a slew of summer trends that I’m really loving right now and poms are one of them, so I thought I would share my take on styling poms as part of our continuous summer style coverage…Now, typically you find poms on bags. Some super cute pom-trimmed beach totes and clutches have been making the rounds this season, but I’m loving them just as much on clothing! The thing with trends is that unless you’re head over heels…like the forever kind of love…you don’t know how you’re going to feel about them in a year. So, looking for budget friendly “trendy” pieces just makes sense.

I always know that when I’m not looking to seriously invest in a trend Target won’t steer me wrong. They have some fabulous reasonably priced pieces that are perfect for summer! In fact, along with the lightweight denim shorts I already shared, I scored this flowy striped tank (similar here) and pom trimmed shorts there. They’re the basic kind of summer staples I’ll be able to turn to all season long…as are my Birkenstock Gizeh sandals. A knee injury has me paying more attention to shoes with actual support these days, so I’ve obviously become obsessed with Birkenstocks! I scored this Gizeh style from J. Jill.

I actually wore them all together, along with my trusty African bead necklace, for a bit of sightseeing during our mountain vacation this week and I was delightfully comfy and cool! I prefer flowy pieces versus more fitted ones in the summertime because they simply breathe more. And I’m always a sucker for a drawstring waist. Comfort is king for this busy mama. Haha!

So, what have some of your go-to pieces been this summer? Have poms been on your radar too? Inquiring minds want to know!
