If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you might already know but I have been a traveling fool this month. Our family just got back after a wonderful trip to Scotland and England to be in a gorgeous wedding of a dear friend. (Lots of photos and traveling family tips to share soon!) So why yes, I do look a little tired and jet lagged in this photo since for the first time I had not only my own jet lag to deal with but also two little ones who were off schedule. Eek! But it was all worth it and despite my tired eyes, I thought I would share this easy outfit with a great summer sweater for traveling.
The temps in Scotland are a “wee bit chilly”. Even in July they were 50’s and 60’s and changed by the hour. For drinks and dinner out, a summer sweater was a great solution. This J. Jill open-stitch sweater was a medium weight and to open-stitch still felt light enough for summer. I also loved the length so I can also wear it with leggings and skinny jeans without feeling like I’m baring all, ha. Of course I paired it with my favorite pair of dark skinny jeans, a statement necklace, and gold Coach flats I picked up at Nordstrom Rack recently (similar pair from H&M on sale for $9.99!). Gold flats have become a wardrobe staple for me lately! One thing I swear by when traveling is a light crossbody bag. I try to pack for big trips as light as possible so this Michael Kors bag played purse duty for two straight weeks and was perfect. I like my crossbody bags to be able to slip inside a diaper bag if needed and not be too short on me and this worked wonders. That’s my take on a great summer sweater for traveling. Do you have a few summer sweaters that work for these types of trips or temps? What’s your favorite?
