Never one to let you down with ideas of festive cocktails, this Christmas Sangria is one of my new favorites!
I really love sangria but sometimes it feels like it is meant to be solely a summer drink. I typically drink it on a warm summer night. But why must we suffer and miss the deliciousness of a good sangria in the winter months? No more my loves. This year I present to you the Christmas Sangria. Using clementines and pomegranates, as well as a cranberry-apple drink, all of the fresh flavors I love in winter work with the red wine to create a drink that is refreshing and joyful.
Whether you are celebrating on Christmas Eve or serving up dinner throughout the week, this Christmas Sangria is sure to be a hit!
1 Bottle Red Wine
1 Bottle Sparkling Cranberry-Apple Drink
2-3 Clementines sliced thin
1-2 Granny Smith Apples
½ cup Pomegranate Arils
Rosemary Sprigs for garnish
In a pitcher mix red wine and sparkling cranberry-apple drink. Add the fruit. Serve over ice and garnish each glass with a festive sprig of rosemary.
Isn’t it just so pretty with that fresh sprig of rosemary used as a garnish?! This year we have a smaller group celebrating with us so a pitcher of this will feel fun and should work to serve us all. I’m a big fan of toasting to Christmas Eve and playing board games with carols on. Having a drink ready to go, along with a spread of dips and appetizers just puts us all in a joyful celebratory mood.
And while not everything went great this year, our family is all healthy and happy right now and there is so much to be grateful for in that! Let me know what you think of this Christmas Sangria and if you would add any other flavors to yours.
