Chicco Fit2 LE Makes Staying Rear Facing Easy

Review of the Chicco Fit2 LE

Finding a car seat that you love can feel overwhelming. Especially for first time expecting moms. There is so much information to sift through to make sure your precious little one stays as safe as possible.

With car seat safety recommendations stating that children should be rear-facing until 2-years-old, the Chicco Fit2® LE 2-Year Rear-Facing Infant & Toddler Car Seat makes meeting that guideline easy. Which is really saying something. As children are growing, it is important to find a car seat that will grow with them and meet the safety recommendations. I was excited to test and see just how the Fit2 works to do this.

Installing the Chicco Fit2® LE

After taking time to examine the Chicco Fit2® LE car seat and install the base in my own car, I was smitten. It was a breeze to install using the latch system and I loved how easily the carrier clicked into the base. The Fit2 is designed with smart functionality that makes it the easiest to install simply, accurately, and securely. I’ve struggled with some car seats, sweating it out in the garage as I fought through the initial install. The Fit2 however was a total cinch! I also loved the two RideRight® bubble level-indicators which gave me the confidence that I had installed it at the correct angle.

Since the Fit2 accommodates two different stages, I wanted to check out and examine both stages. Not having a little baby of my own, I did the next best thing. I called Cait, one of my best friends who recently had a baby. As a new mom with a six-week-old baby, we decided they would be a great pair to test it out. And can we just all take a moment to appreciate how amazing she looks a mere six weeks later. Way to knock this whole motherhood thing out of the park Cait!

Chicco Fit2 Car Seat Stage 1Simply put this car seat looks fab! We both agreed that the design is very chic (I love that sleek handle) and the sunshade fabric is thick and provides great coverage. The Verso fashion seen here is a Luxury Edition model with premium accents, available exclusively at buybuy BABY®. We loved it!

When we put her little guy in the seat, he snuggled right into the head and body support insert and nodded off to sleep. What a cutie! Like me, Cait also found this car seat easy to use, adjusting the handle with one hand and clicking it into the base with ease so that we were ready to rock-n-roll. The hand carry handle adjuster makes it really easy to take the baby in and out of the baby carrier with one hand. And you know us mama’s often only have one free hand!

The magical “ah-ha” moment with the Fit2 though is that it grows with your baby. The 2-Stage base converts from Infant Position to Toddler Position with one simple motion, so that you can stay rear facing for the entire first 2 years. The second stage adjusts to provide extended legroom and a more upright seat for your child but not taking up more space in your vehicle.

I was truly impressed with how easy the switch was to make. I just had to lift and rotate the lever. And seeing the Base Stage Indicator clearly display Stage 2 in orange, I was confident I had done it correctly. To give Max more headroom, I adjusted the headrest with an upward motion. It was that easy.

At 2-years-old, Max is still within the seat’s weight limit. He was eager to climb on in and test out his new seat. We all had a good laugh at just how enthusiastic he was to buckle in and go (“Come on guys! Let’s go!”). Something tells me he knew we were headed to a friend’s house for swimming! He seemed to truly have plenty of space and enjoy the ride!

One note, in the Stage 2 setting, I found removing the canopy and leaving the seat in the car permanently rather than using it as a carrier to be the best option. At 31 pounds, Max is too heavy to carry in a carrier and walks everywhere on his own or transitions to a stroller.
