While we’ve been back to school here in the sunshine state for a few weeks now, I know that it is technically still summer. It actually sure does still feel like summer here and it’s going to for at least a couple more months. That’s Florida living y’all. Bwah! I also know that colder temps are heading toward many of you sooner than they are for me and that there are many of who aren’t quite ready to let go of your summer style yet. So, I thought I would share some late summer style inspiration. And while today’s featured look definitely has a summery feel, you could certainly transition the hero piece, the maxi dress, to fall by topping it with a fun jacket and swapping out the sandals for booties, but I digress…Let’s talk late summer style!
If you know me in real life, you know that I basically live in flowy dresses, namely maxi dresses, in the summertime. They’re simply easy breezy made for summer wear. And that is why I have a large and in charge maxi collection that seems to keep on growing and growing and growing…Well, you get the picture. And I don’t only turn to them in summer, maxis just so happen to be one of my favorite summer to fall transitional pieces for the same reason I outlined above. With just a few modifications your comfy summer dress can easily become a part of your early fall style.
But in this case with this outfit, I’m holding onto summer with both hands. I picked up this new maxi dress during our family vacay in the mountains. You may remember when I shared some of my favorite summer finds from there a few weeks ago. Well, I forgot to include this little number. Eeek! Jodifl is one of my go to brands simply because their pieces are so darn soft. I snagged a tie dye Jodifl maxi last summer that I literally wore into the ground, so when I saw this baby hanging up, I knew it was the perfect replacement piece! Because much like my maxi obsession, my love for tie dye knows no bounds.
I styled my fave new tie dye maxi with oh so comfy Mia sandals that I scored in one of my summer Stitch Fix boxes and my ever present African strand of beads. I wear this necklace so much that I’m going to have to have it restrung soon. My number one fashion advice is to look for pieces that you know you’ll be able to style a million and one different ways! And I can do just that with all of these! Or have a bestie who knows you so well that when she visits Tanzania she picks up a necklace that she knows you will never stop wearing. Hahaha!
So, that’s my take on late summer style my friends. Stay tuned…I’ll be styling this dress for real fall weather very soon! And for a similar maxi…head HERE.
