Three Ways to Wear a Cape

I got my first cape when I was but four years old. I can still remember it. White…faux fur…perfection. I instantly fell in love and my affinity for capes never quite went away. I’m, ahem, a few years down the road from being four now, but that little girl in me still gets excited when I slip one on. And since capes are such a hot trend this holiday season, I thought it would be the perfect time to pick up a new one. Even if I don’t find a traditional cape that’s up my alley, I know I can find a cafe scarf type style! And luckily, I count many fashionable ladies as friends and have been looking to them for styling inspiration as I look for my new cape score!

How to Wear a Cape

I have to say, I’m having a hard time narrowing down which kind of cape I want to snag. Should I go dressy or casual? The jury’s out…In the meantime, check out these outfits that I can’t get enough of! I had totally forgotten that I have one of my own that hasn’t gotten enough wear…I said I was going to bring it out to play more this fall, then I moved and didn’t think twice about it until now. Clearly it’s time to get my closet in order for the season at hand!

Casual neutrals…Megan styled her cream cape with skinnies and cognac ankle boots. She looks so comfy and so chic at the same time!

Houndstooth chic…I’m a sucker for houndstooth anything and this houndstooth cape from Ellen of That Chic Mom is no different.

Pop of color…A cape/poncho situation is a great way to add some color to an otherwise neutral look! I promise I’ll style this one again soon.

So, now that you’ve seen a fun way to wear this look, are you ready to try the trend yourself?!
