Champagne Saturday: Hats Off to the Kentucky Derby!

It's Saturday, and not just any Saturday but it's the Kentucky Derby! The time honored tradition of horse races in good ol' Louisville, Kentucky, that lets face it is more about the hats and mint juleps than it is those gorgeous horses! I was lucky enough to go to the Derby a few years ago. I was excited to wear my hat and see the Derby in person, but once there I was blown away by the amazing hats and outfits all the women were wearing. Its enough to bring the southern belle out of...

A Friendly Lesson in the Art of Souffle’

Last week I had a great mid-week visit from my good friend Becca. It was a gloomy day on the outside, but on the inside we were all red wine and giggles! Becca is taking a pastry course on her weekends and she means some serious business when it comes to the kitchen. While she was visiting she taught me something that has been on my "bucket list" for several years, (pause for the drum roll) it was the art of making a souffle'! I must say that it wasn't overly complicated. The tricky part...

NYC Favorite Spots. So Many Sites, So Little Time!

As you might have read in yesterday's post, we are back from NYC and have had a few days to kick back, rest our poor feet from those super high heels, and reflected on our favorite moments. It just so happened that I was in town longer than most due to work, so I not only got to meet up with Kristin, but was also able to end the visit with Floyd. While spare moments were few, I tried my best to squeeze in as much action as I could. It was just enough time...

New York Fashion Week & The BonBon Rose Girls

Well, we've been back from NYFW for a few days now and I almost can't believe that it really happened. I was there. Me, a little stay at home Mom from Tampa, FL who decided to start writing about her passion for fashion a little over a year ago went to New York Fashion Week. From seeing countless celebs up close and personal, to sitting a few feet from the catwalk while one of my favorite designers of ALL time, Phillip Lim showed, it was all a dream come true! At that particular show I experienced...

No Blizzard Can Stop Fashion Week!

I know it's been silent on our end for a few days and that's only due to the whirlwind that was caused by the blizzard. Megan was able to take a train and get to New York earlier in the week and after dealing with canceled flights and a ton of annoyed customer service reps, I was able to snag a seat on a Thursday morning flight and make my way up with moments to spare. I mean Thursday was the first day of New York's Fashion Week and I couldn't let a pesky little...

It’s Cookie Time (Woot Woot!)

Who doesn't love the scent of freshly baked cookies?! I mean really, who?! Since its kind of that time of year when we can all forget about our thighs if only for a few fleeting weeks (no bathing suit happening here anytime soon!) I decided to have a handful of my girls over to roll up our sleeves and make use of my new giant kitchen island. I mean whats the point of having a huge granite slab in the middle of a room if not to roll out some killer dough?! We might...

Cuz That’s How I Roll In Ireland, Yo!

I know I've exhausted you all with my tales from the Ireland Road Trip but I'm going to wrap it up here and now. If anyone wants more details or hotel recommendations for Ireland please get in touch! Over the weekend I'll post some great photos that we're still editing. The last time I blogged my tired rear-end was in the back seat of a small sad car waving good-bye to Dublin. It was on to Kilkenny. In just a few short hours we stopped in this charming medieval town and checked into the Ormonde Hotel....

Dublin, The City the Kicked Us In The Pants!

OK, technically I'm back in the states. The wifi that was widely advertised throughout the last week I was in Ireland tended to be one bar of service in the corner of a hotel lobby, one bar that I could only get if twisted into some insane yoga move laptop in air. Many thanks to Kristin for not only keeping everything going here at BonBon Rose while I was taking in the sights, but also managing a complete site redesign. She's officially my superwoman! Not wanting to leave you in the dark about the rest...

Stumbling Upon History

Last weekend we had our first group of family come through for a visit. With the new house our weekends over the next several months are booked solid. Every single family member is coming with the exception of my brother (Thanks Bro! We needed a break!). Living in Annapolis though means instant entertainment which is great for visitors. Not only are we smack dab in between Washington, DC and Baltimore, we also have a great old town harbor with sail boats, cafes and cute men in uniform, from the Naval Academy. littering the streets. We decided...

Belfast, A Diamond in the Rough

Who knew that Belfast could be so great? It was the guys’ idea to go to Belfast and Kate and I agreed reluctantly. It greatly exceeded all of my expectations. We checked into the Tara Lodge, a great hotel that I highly recommend, and had enough afternoon sunlight to take a nice walk through the Botanical Gardens. Kate and literally took some time to stop and smell the roses (sorry I know that was uber cheesy). After a quick shower we went to dinner and then stopped at The Crown Bar for a pint. The...
