Stumbling Upon History

Last weekend we had our first group of family come through for a visit. With the new house our weekends over the next several months are booked solid. Every single family member is coming with the exception of my brother (Thanks Bro! We needed a break!). Living in Annapolis though means instant entertainment which is great for visitors. Not only are we smack dab in between Washington, DC and Baltimore, we also have a great old town harbor with sail boats, cafes and cute men in uniform, from the Naval Academy. littering the streets. We decided...

Belfast, A Diamond in the Rough

Who knew that Belfast could be so great? It was the guys’ idea to go to Belfast and Kate and I agreed reluctantly. It greatly exceeded all of my expectations. We checked into the Tara Lodge, a great hotel that I highly recommend, and had enough afternoon sunlight to take a nice walk through the Botanical Gardens. Kate and literally took some time to stop and smell the roses (sorry I know that was uber cheesy). After a quick shower we went to dinner and then stopped at The Crown Bar for a pint. The...

Good Morning From Ireland

Hello from Ireland! Its the third day in and since we’re leaving Northern Ireland (the U.K) and headed south to Ireland (the country) today, I thought today would be a good point to stop and post (Don’t worry the whole U.K./Ireland has been a bit confusing for us too!). We got into Belfast International Airport on Friday after what felt like a long cramped flight, where not one of the four of us really slept. Looking out the window as we landed, our sleepless night was rewarded with a patchwork of the most vibrant...

Does Rachel Bilson ever make a wrong move?

I'm pretty much enamored with everything that Rachel Bilson throws on her body. She's got an innate sense of style that cannot be rivaled by most. This look that she wore to a recent benefit is no exception. The rolled up blazer, printed mini dress and taupe heels scream easy going chic. I am in love with the gentle draping of the blazer and by sporting nude pumps the lines of the outfit aren't cut up making her stems seem like they go for days. I know we've all heard about that trick of the...

As promised…

So, in this post I'm doing two things I said I wasn't going to do. I'm posting a pic which features my kid as more than a faceless newborn and me in my, not quite as fit as I'd like to be, shape. I realized I was being ridiculously vain and if the dreaded anonymous wants to tell me that I'm fat and ugly, so be it. The hubs thinks I'm hot. Ah ha. Oh and everybody swear you won't kidnap my bambino. I know he's pretty but he's mine. Ok, conceited parent moment is...

One Year Ago Today…

One year ago today this little bundle of joy entered my life. Please excuse the horrendous picture. I had just done a lot of huffing and puffing after all. Now, if you lovely readers don't mind, I would like to talk to my little man for a moment. I can't believe you're one my darling boy. I feel like I was being wheeled out of the hospital with you nestled in my arms a mere moment ago. You have made my life so much sweeter than I ever could have imagined it would be. I...

Urbana, A Dinner Party to Remember

This past Saturday evening I celebrated my birthday with a group of friends at a local Washington, DC restaurant and wine bar, Urbana. The cuisine is Italian and the mood is set with a modern sleek decor and best was that everyone seemed to really love their dishes. My homemade butternut squash ravioli was so divine I had to pass it around for everyone to taste. For dessert, the peanut butter mouse in a chocolate crust was simply heaven in a spoon. (the before photo of the peanut butter mouse) However, as I started...

It’s time to get organized!

Anyone who knows me could tell you that organization is not exactly my strong suit. Call up any one of my roommates over the years and I’m sure they could fill your ear with tales of the disaster area that was my room. Well, now that I’m a parent and trying to work from home I think it’s about time I turn over a new leaf. Granted I’m not tripping over my clothes anymore but that’s because they are all stuffed in my closet. Ah ha! So I’ve found these great products to help get...
