With baby #2 due to arrive in December, I knew I wasn’t really in need of much. I mean, just by chance these boys will have a birthday almost three years apart exactly, so even seasonal items are covered. How great is that?! So, when two of my best girls wanted to throw a shower to celebrate this little man’s arrival, we opted for a diaper drive instead. The diapers and supplies are all being donated to local Annapolis charity Food Link’s, Diaper Pantry and will benefit women directly in my community. If you are a mom and have even had to stretch diapers for just one day until you made it to the store, you know first hand just how stressful that can be. Children in this situation often suffer from severe diaper rash and infections as there parents struggle to purchase this expensive but everyday necessity.
For the diaper drive, we just asked that friends bring diapers to donate and enjoy. Ashley and Angie showed up at my house and put on quite the fall spread, decor and all! I loved all the fall accents including the candy corn, children’s books and overflowing cornucopias.
They even created a station for making caramel apples and taking them home in cute bags. The crock pot warmed up the caramel and then bowls full of pretzels, peanuts and M&Ms were ready to go. Yum!
Apple pie sangria was a hit! For the non-drinkers (ahem, me) sweet punch was perfect for the warm day.
Ashley made this fall themed diaper cake which was a stand out centerpiece. It’s currently adorning the nursery which is almost finished. What a special touch!
And here I am afterward with my two fab hostesses and all the loot.
With 10 weeks left to go you can tell that those cheeks of mine are really filling out!
What a lucky little boy to have such wonderful people welcoming him into the world! The day was so special and lovely and in all we raised over 1,500 diapers for those in need!
