What to Do in Chicago and a Hilton Garden Inn Giveaway

Last month the hubs and I jetted off for a little getaway in Chicago. He ran the Chicago Marathon, super fit fella that he is, and we stayed in town a few extra days to tool around one of our favorite cities. It was the perfect time for us to declare our own holiday. He trained SO hard and finished with such a great time, the experience was definitely holiday worthy! I love how Hilton Garden Inn encourages people to think beyond the traditional vacation and declare your own holiday when the mood strikes!

We were lucky enough to get to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is right downtown, and a most excellent location for the Marathon runners. And it was great for us non-runners. It was within walking distance of Michigan Avenue too. You know I had to sneak some shopping in. Haha!

While we were in the windy city, we had so much fun exploring…Here are my top three favorite things that we did on our trip and my recommendations for you when you head out for your own getaway, as well as what to do in Chicago:

1. Eat local…We had his pre-race carbo loadin’ meal at Quartino . It’s a shared plate kind of place and I can’t recommend it more. If you’re looking for delicious, yet totally reasonably priced food, this spot is for you! And we hit up the Little Goat Diner with our favorite partners in crime, The Little Style File girls. Five words…peanut butter and banana waffles. Elvis would be proud of that dish. Just sayin’.

2. Visit a museum…We chose the Field Museum and I couldn’t help but wish that the dude had come along. He would have LOVED the Tyrannosaurus rex! And after the museum, we took a long walk down by the lake. Nothing beats getting out there and really exploring your travel destination.

3. Take it easy…We spent our last night holed up in the hotel room, enjoying room service and simply relaxing. It was a wonderful end to a lovely trip. Sometimes us tired ‘rents just need a time out. Who’s with me? Haha!

So, do you want to find out how YOU can declare your own holiday? Head HERE for more details! And if you’ve already thinking about where you’re going to go, get ready to be excited! We’re giving away a Be My Guest Card (which can be redeemed for a free night stay at any Hilton Garden Inn location)! You can enter using the Rafflecopter widget below:

Ooh, I love the Hilton Garden Inn! I used to stay in one while going to visit my boyfriend in Mason, OH, and I always looked forward to the pitcher of infused water in the lobby.

I would want to stay in Nashville! We have been trying to put away money to go there for my birthday and see a hockey game, so winning a free night in a hotel would be awesome!

Also, I tried to subscribe, but it never gave me any confirmation that it went through. My email is the same as my username on here, at 🙂

When I was 18, my aunt lived in Chicago and she brought me there so I could see all the sights. We did so much that week, but all I remember is seeing Bon Jovi. I need to go back!

Those pictures are fantastic. I love Chicago. This is the first year in a long time that we didn’t make it over during the summer.

Strange as it is to say, Chicago is still on my beach bucket list. Gotta run that trail along the lake!
