The Summer Shandy is a beautiful thing. It combines two of my absolute favorite warm weather drinks. Cold beer and lemonade. This version uses one of those sparkling lemonades you can find at just about any grocery store. I tend to have a few of these in my pantry to add a little zip what feels like an ordinary day. Also, there tends to be a few leftover after any bridal or baby shower I host, making them perfect to use up in this drink recipe. One sip and it instantly feels like a nice warm day where you just want to be lazy in the sun. I also used a pale ale and ideally the shandy is made with a wheat beer. Although, I’ve found that just about anything you like will do.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
1 pale ale or similar beer
Lemon slices or wedges for garnish
1. Pour half of the beer in each of two glasses
2. Fill the remainder of the glass with sparkling lemonade
3. Garnish with a lemon wedge
4. Instantly relax while you sip
And why not add your own twist to this classic summer cocktail. Perhaps use a berry lemonade or even make your own from scratch at home. We all know that everything made at home from scratch tastes better. Although, after a long week of hard work, this shandy with sparkling lemonade takes about three minutes and is just right.
