How to Make a Panama Hat Work for Fall

I went on a girls’ trip recently and nearly every one of my friends was rockin’ a hat as part of their travel garb. Now I have a slew of cowboy hats, as you probably noticed from our dude ranch Instagram shares, but I was lacking in the travel hat department. What better hat to rock on a warm weather getaway than a Panama hat? And that’s just what I set out in search of before Megan and headed out on said dude ranch trip. I loved this little beauty that I picked up so much I found myself wearing it not only on our travel days, but on most every other day on our vacation too! Now you’re probably thinking, that’s a great summer hat and all, but it’s basically fall. Now what?

Panama hat

Well, I’m here to tell you that you an easily transition summer hats, like a Panama hat, into fall…and here’s how! Find yourself a lightweight, easy breezy kinda top with sleeves like my dipped hem striped top from J. Jill. It perfectly teeters between warm and cooler weather. Then all you have to add is your favorite pair of skinnies, no I will never give up my skinnies, and a fun pop of color. In this case, the smokin’ hot color came from my J. Jill cross-strap suede flats.

red flats

Clearly I can’t get enough of transitional pieces…The firey red hue of these flats goes great with my caramel Panama hat, but will be perfectly at home this holiday season as well. You know how us moms are all about multi-purpose anything! I revel in finding things to add to my wardrobe that I can remix into many different looks with ease…and these smokin’ flats will definitely be finding themselves in plenty of looks in the months to come.

So, how do you feel about the Panama hat lovelies? Will you be adding one to your fall looks like this girl is planning to? For more of our fall favorites, check out how we’ll be wearing cowboy boots
