In my mind, a day blissfully wine tasting in Napa calls for a look that is feminine and pretty. Which is just what I had in mind when Floyd and I headed to California last week with friends. My friend Angie and I were running in the Napa to Sonoma half marathon and decided to make it a kid-free getaway with our husbands for a few days. After all, why go all the way to Napa without sampling the wine, right?! Despite the West Coast heat wave, I truly felt fancy free in this Free People Maxi dress.
To start the day, I paired it with my trusty jean jacket. As the weather quickly grew warmer the jacket was left in the car more and more. I love how the dress worked both with and without the jacket for a boho vibe.
Also can we talk about that color? I really fell head over heels in love with the ivory and blush combo. It just felt really sweet and since I don’t often get called sweet I had to go for it, ha.
The dress also comes in a rusty red color that would be great for fall and could be paired with tall boots underneath. I think that’s part of what I liked best about this Free People maxi, that it could be dressed up and down so many ways.
Knowing that I was going to be walking through vineyards, I opted for my favorite Born thong sandals. They are so comfortable! You could wear heels and take this look to a wedding and in the fall I can see wearing it with a sweater jacket and booties. Stay tuned for that styling, ha!
I just couldn’t wait to share this look but more details of our Napa trip including a great two-day itinerary coming soon!
