With Thanksgiving approaching next week, we are realizing more and more how hard it is to teach gratefulness and being thankful to our kids. Sure, these are qualities that we work to emphasize all year round, but with the Christmas holiday advertising starting earlier than ever Thanksgiving can feel a little lost in the shuffle. Even the story of the first Thanksgiving can feel like a long lost memory when we are looking at tree lightings and cocoa. Reading is a great way to get these types of conversations started with children. I find it especially helpful leading up to a holiday. Which is why we’ve rounded up our favorite children’s Thanksgiving books. And don’t worry, all of these can be purchased via Amazon Prime leaving you plenty of time to get your family reading!

Thanks for Thanksgiving
These are just eight of the children’s Thanksgiving books that we love. I’m currently reading Judy Moody & Stink, The Wishbone Wish to Jake (he’s almost age 6) and we are loving it! We also are trying to incorporate several other ways in our day to day lives that help illustrate these special qualities. From cleaning out and donating our old toys before the holidays, creating a thankful jar to even a chore chart on the fridge to help show responsibility, we are doing our best to fight the cases of the “gimmes” that hit hard when those toy catalogs arrive. It’s hard mama’s but we can do it! Happy reading and Thanksgiving holiday prep!
