Let’s talk about how to get going in the morning. For me, it’s not easy. It’s just not easy at all. You see, I’m not a morning person. I never have been. As a result, I find it really hard to leave my bed. I’m a mom, however, and not being a morning person doesn’t exactly work when there are little people depending on you. I can’t just schedule afternoon classes and sleep in like I did in college. Bwah! Nope. I have to get up. And I have to get up EARLY. Eeek! Breakfast has to be made, lunches thrown together and the kids dropped off at school long before my body tells me it’s time to get going. So, how do I do it? Well, after a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a few simple tricks that help!
Easy Tips for How to Get Going in the Morning
1. Eat an apple. I know, I know. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I get that, really I do. That being said, I just don’t have time to make myself a hot meal until I get back from drop off. A nice crunchy apple settles my stomach until it’s this mama’s turn to sit down to breakfast.
2. Take a quick walk. I’m not talking a full on workout. I know there are those of you who are raring to go at your 5am workouts. That will never be me. I’ll stick with my much later in the day runs, but a 5-10 minute walk in the morning really helps wake me up.
3. Drink some COFFEE. Duh. Haha! As much as I am NOT a morning person, I am a coffee person. I think about sipping that heavenly first cup in the AM before I fall asleep at night. It’s that good.
