How to Update Your Space with Color

Let’s talk about how to update your space with color. It’s not as hard as you would think to breathe new life into a room…You can update your space of choice with a limited budget and even less time if you take my advice today! And trust me, I understand budget and time constraints. You see, we moved into a new home last summer that was approximately twice the size as our last house. So you could say, we have a LOT of extra space to decorate.. When I say I can show you how to update your space with color, I promise it won’t be painful!

It’s been nearly a year since we moved in and our home is still very much a work in progress. Bwah! But that’s ok. This is a marathon not a sprint and I’m fine with taking my time. That being said, I took some sage words from my bestie to heart and have tried to focus my energy on one particular area of our home. Once I feel great about that, I can move on to the next room. And, I have to say, it’s really getting there. New flooring and window treatments are going in this summer, but those will be the finishing details thanks to the furniture and decorative accents that I’ve picked up along the way. In fact, I wanted to share some of those decor finds with you today.

How to Update Your Space with Color

I recently became acquainted with Lorena Canals and boy did I fall in love. This one stop home decor shop is chock full of gorgeous rugs, baskets, throw pillows, wall hangings and more! I actually snagged a couple pieces to jazz up my living room and front entry area recently. And, let me tell you, jazz those spaces up they did thanks to all that color. Yep, like I mentioned, it’s all about the color. Add a cheerful color like yellow to your space this time of year to give it a summery feel.

I’ve always found that adding throw pillows in a fresh hue can instantly change the vibe of a room. Yellow pillows go perfectly with my grey and turquoise color scheme so I threw a couple of those to the mix. I guarantee you there is a summery hue that will look lovely with your current color scheme too! Add in a festive basket in the same color to house your throw blankets and you’ve updated your space with very little effort! And even easier, is adding a new rug to your entry. I love being greeted by something that makes me happy and the Aztec Print Rug from Lorena Canals that’s in front of my doors, certainly puts a smile on my face every time I see it. Did I mention that it’s washable?! Plus, it ties in the yellow from the living that’s located directly next to it. I’m all about flow and being that my home is open concept, it’s important that there’s some color connection from room to room!

Great! I have to do this in our living room. When we moved I picked brown couches and curtains and I didn’t think to add pops of colour. This is a must!

The yellow goes nicely with the gray and turquoise. A bit of different color can make a big difference, we just covered our couches and it really brightened the room.
