How to Wear a Bralette

This summer you may have noticed a subtle new trend. It’s the bralette! These pretty lingerie like bras are peeking out from cute tops all over Instagram. Well I decided to give the trend a go and am sharing all the tips and tricks of how to wear a bralette this summer season!

How to Wear a Bralette

Ok it’s real talk time. You know I always like to give it to you straight. The bralette is EVERYWHERE right now and I was a little nervous about if I could really pull it off. I’ve seen so many cute looks but truthfully many of the bralettes I looked out just didn’t have that much support. Which is great and all if you are smaller chested but if you are my age and a full C, the idea of no support can send you running for the hills. So here are my tips on how to wear a bralette and look sweet and pretty and not floppy and tired. Because no one wants to look floppy and tired!

Tips on How to Wear a Bralette

  1. Make sure to find a bralette that is both comfortable and has enough straps for support. Some of the ones I looked at were cut really small. This one by Free People gave me enough coverage and had two straps for each shoulder. I really love it!
  2. Only wear it for part of the day. That’s right this is not your 18 hour coverage. Rather choose to wear it when you are going out for dinner or to a brunch. Time it for just enough cute impact and you’ll be just fine!
  3. Let enough of the lace peek through so that it is very clear that this is an intentional look. With only the straps showing it just looks like you don’t want to put on the strapless bra. Show a little lace and the look is feminine and pretty!

I paired my bralette with this maxi dress from Nordstrom. I love the palm print and pale green color. Right now it is only $38 so it is a total steal! Perfect for sipping rose’ on the dock at happy hour!
