Making Sushi…I now know why the good stuff will cost ya!

Last week I dragged Floyd to his first cooking class. It was at local DC school Culin Aerie, which I had been to one time before. Living Social is a daily email of deals and coupons I get for the DC area and they sent a BOGO for a sushi making class.  Knowing how much Floyd loves sushi I thought this would be a good starter class for a guy not super into cooking.  Turns out I was right!  We had a blast sipping wine while mastering the art of the sushi roll!  ...

Make Your Own Rosette Pins!

Quick and easy.  Now that's my kind of DIY project!  A few weeks ago when I was in New York City, I was staying near Bryant Park and this shop sign across the street caught my eye. It read M&J Trimming and was huge.  I of course had to stop in and was immediately stumbling around open mouthed just gaping.  Before me was every type of ribbon you could imagine!  Row upon row filled to the brim with spools of gorgeous ribbon, buttons, sequins, feathers...

Champagne Saturday: Happy Wedding Memories

Happy Champagne Saturday lovelies! After reading Meg's recap of her gorgeous destination wedding in Jamaica this week, my own wedding is on my mind again. Meg was spot on when she said that at the end of the day, the most important thing about your special day is sharing it with your loved ones. My wedding just wouldn't have been the same without my close friends and family being there. Celebrating with those you love is most definitely cause for a glass of bubbly to be raised. Here I am raising one with my lil' sis...

Megan’s Family Room Tour

It's a Vlog.  For some reason I just love that word and can't help but say it in my head over and over. Vlog, vlog, vlog.  Today's post is a walk through our living room sharing what we've done so far to decorate the space.  There is still a giant blank wall just calling out for some love so any thoughts or suggestions are welcome, no matter how out there they may sound.  We are all ears over here.  I promise!  Unless you want me to create a dolphin mural.  That may be crossing the...

Destination wedding welcome bags sure to wow your guests!

If you're having a destination wedding make sure to hook your guests up with a nice welcome.  After all, they flew pretty far to see your pretty mug walk down that aisle!  For my own Jamaican wedding, I took sinamay envelopes like those shown below and included a hand written note, candle, snacks, itinerary and even a bug spray wipe (ya never know!).  I really wanted everyone to feel excited the minute they arrived at the hotel.  Going to a warehouse store was one way I saved some dough in making the bags, but there...

A Destination Wedding in Jamaica

[caption id="attachment_3568" align="alignnone" width="442" caption="Beaming my way back down the aisle."][/caption] A good friend of mine called a few days ago to tell me she was newly engaged, and ever since, I’ve been walking around just bursting with happiness for her!  With my own 3 year anniversary just a few weeks away, I’ve got wedding bells on the brain.  I realize that I’ve never shared the details about our big day, so I thought it was high time to fill you in on our destination wedding in Jamaica. [caption id="attachment_3629" align="alignnone" width="430" caption="The Rockhouse Hotel"][/caption] Almost 4 years...

These Boots Are Made for Walkin’!

So, I know most of you gorgeous readers have started thinking about your fall wardrobe. You might not have started shopping yet, but I bet it's on your mind. It's on my mind anyway. And boots are first and foremost on my lust list! As much as I love heels, if I've got the dude with me I've got to be able to run after those speedy little toddler stems of his. So, unless I'm out on the town childless, flat or wedge boots work best for moi. Here are a few pairs that I...

Dress Up Your Fingers With Statement Rings

If you've been paying attention to the runways or even picked up a glossy or two lately, you've probably noticed that camel is the dominant hue for fall. I'm all for this classic shade, but I can't rock the neutral look without adding a little color to my ensemble. A juicy statement ring is the perfect way to add a pop of color without taking away from the piece that you want to take center stage! Plus, if you're on a budget, picking yourself up an inexpensive, yet fun bauble is a fabulous way to inject...

Plum Raspberry Tart…sweet and easy!

You didn't think I'd leave you without dessert did you?! No way, this chick has a serious sweet tooth!  This dessert is also based off of an easy recipe found in Real Simple that caught my eye mainly due to my love affair with Puff Pastry dough.  I can't get enough of the stuff! You really can substitute any fruit that will hold up in a tart. I'm thinking pears and blueberries would be delicious.  I love too that you don't need one of those tart pan thingy's that I clearly don't have yet! To...
