Spooky Table Setting

Are you getting into the fun of Halloween?  This weekend my Mom and I decided to do a little tablescaping to get us in the spooky spirit.  I had most items on hand, which helped make this project very budget friendly.  The orange plastic chargers, tilting spider candles and plastic spiders were purchased at Michael's, but the table cloth and dishes were all pre-owned.  I recently saw this idea for a "ghost pitcher" on a blog but can't find it anywhere (if it's you please let me know, I loved this project and will link up!)....

Entrance Hallway Molding DIY

I am jumping up and down ecstatic to show you today's Before and After!  You might remember this image as our hallway entrance wall.  It was a long blank wall that was boring and rather drab.  That's our front door to the right.  Clearly, we were debating paint color choices at the time this was snapped, but you get the idea.  LONG BLANK BORING WALL ZZZZZZ. Well, after a lot of debating and even more sweat equity (mostly on Floyd's part) it now looks like this: I still have some decorating to do, in particular replacing that...

Everyone Needs a Little Napa in Their Life

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending an appreciation event put on by Aguiar Plastic Surgery at a darling little shop called Napa Flair. I am so grateful that my dear friend Leslie Joy Ickowitz of VERTICAL Tampa Bay thought to include me as I was introduced to a fabulous new shopping haunt! Napa Flair is a wine and decor boutique that boasts an excellent selection of wine, as well as gorgeous antiques and various home wares. Not only can you turn to the lovely owner, LuAnn Shapiro, for wine recommendations, but you can...

Romantic Cafe’ Deck Lighting

When we had the deck built way back in April, I was determined to create a vibe that was relaxing.  A vibe that just beckoned for a glass of wine and some good conversation.  I fell madly in love with the idea of using cafe' lights to cast a romantic glow overhead.  I love when restaurants do this and thought that it couldn't be too hard.  So, after searching around a bit I settled on two strands of glass string lights from World Market, similar to these. After a little nudging, we managed to get them...

A Breathtaking Online Magazine

I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite online publications, VERTICAL Tampa Bay. Its lovely creator, Leslie Ickowitz, and I initially bonded via Twitter and Facebook over our mutual love of local designer k. hendrix. We eventually decided that a coffee date was in order and an instant friendship was formed.  I am truly in awe of how Leslie has brought her vision to life. VERTICAL, aptly described as a work of art, is the type of publication that makes you marvel at the beauty Tampa Bay has to offer...

Champagne Saturday: She Works Hard For Her Money

I might have mentioned that I'm hitting the road for two weeks on Monday. So far, 2011 has been pretty crazy with work including, even today, Champagne Saturday.  I've spent a lot of time here in my home office with a Diet Coke at my side (Katie this one's for you!).  But never fear, I'm squeezing in some fun time too! My home office is a room I don't show you guys very often because honestly, I'm not a huge fan of this accent wall.  Its not the accent wall itself I don't like but the...

Kicking off the Holiday Decorating

After the whirlwind of family that hit our house this past weekend, the poor girl is looking a little rough.  And while we had a blast playing games and stuffing ourselves, the reality of laundry and dishes looms large.  Bleh.  So until I get my act together and get organized I can't really get all the decorations out.  However, I did pick up a few things at Michaels (with the help of two lovely ladies) to kick start the holiday season.  Here's what I've got so far. This champagne colored garland we all fell in love...
