How to Pick New Window Treatments

Upgrading your home can be a daunting process, so it’s best to start with one project at a time, preferably one that makes a big impact. So, let’s talk about how to pick new window treatments shall we?

Have your outdated window treatments been making you sad by chance? Trust me. I’ve been there. In case you missed my musings on all the house projects we’ve had on our to do list in the last couple of years, let me just say things have been overwhelming to say the least. When you have more than one or two projects that need your attention, it’s hard to land on what to tackle first. And that can lead to procrastination. First, take a deep breath. It will all get done eventually. Stressing about the work load only makes things worse. My advice is to think about which change would make you the happiest.

I, for example, really hated the old, broken down blinds that were on our windows when we bought our home. They were original and looked it. I had a feeling that fresh new window treatments would completely change the vibe in our space more than switching out all the old school doorknobs for instance. The hubs and I went back and forth on that decision and boy am I glad I won! Haha! Because you know what? I was I right.

You may remember when I shared how different my living room looks now thanks to the custom shutters 3 Day Blinds installed for us. If you don’t, take a look. It’s the living room I always wanted, really and truly. I immediately see that space when I walk in my front door, so being greeted by those beautiful shutters every day has been a game changer for me. I find myself using that area so much more now and I know it’s because it makes me happy to be in there. And isn’t that what you want from your home?

Pick the Best Window Treatments for Your Lifestyle

My biggest piece of advice for choosing the right window treatments is think about your lifestyle. Do you have kids? Do you have pets? Are you hard on your things? All of this should factor into what kind of window treatments you invest in. Because, let’s face it…Quality window treatments ARE an investment. Sure, you can save some money by going with the right vendor, but you’re still going to be writing a decent sized check at the end of the day. So, you don’t want that money to be wasted.

I needed something super durable in the areas my family spends the most time in. And with kids, cordless treatments were a must. That’s how we landed on plantation shutters. They can we wiped down quickly with a damp cloth and have the timeless look I love. Sure, custom drapes would have been beautiful, but I know my family’s limits. Bwah! One kiddo and dog race around sesh and they’d be toast. So, as you navigate your window treatment choices, really think about what looks good AND what’s practical. You don’t necessarily have to sacrifice one for the other. Just ask 3 Day Blinds.

In fact, I worked with them on another space, our guest room. In there we went with cellular shades. Again, aesthetics and function were considered. I was able to choose something slightly more delicate for that room because it’s not a hang out area for our family. It’s meant to be a serene retreat for our guests. That being said, I still wanted cordless options because you never know where they’re going to end up. Cellular blinds were the perfect choice! The soft, diffused light that comes in through them is as serene as it gets! They virtually blend in with the wall. The result is beauty at its subtlest.

Why We Love 3 Day Blinds

And I’m sure part of my infatuation with all these window treatments is thanks to how seamless 3 Day Blinds made the projects from start to finish. What begin with a thoroughly fleshed out consultation with an expert designer, ended with installation by consummate professionals. As a customer, you want to feel taken care of every step of the way. I can say that I always felt like I was in good hands. Even when there was a hiccup or two. My front gate not letting an installer in or a piece coming in slightly damaged. They handled everything in stride and left this homeowner with a smile on her face. Every time I look at the spaces they helped me update, I’m less stressed about those other projects still on our list. Haha!
