We have a special treat for you today…This fabulous guest post is coming to you from a long time reader, Glee of Creative Fashion!
Despite the unfading trending of animal prints, many women are still unable to incorporate it to their wardrobe. This can be due to a lack of confidence in pulling off such a statement print or their lack of inspiration and ideas on how to style it properly and creatively. But for some, they simply find animal prints “tacky” and are unwilling to change their mind.
When I published my 411 guide how to wear animal print, I had one reader comment on my post that if she didn´t find leopard print tacky, she´d wear it from head to toe.
But that’s the point, if you don’t wear animal print from head to toe and you apply the right tricks on wearing it, you´ll never look trashy, tasteless or over-committed. In fact, if done right, you can look very sophisticated and elegant in this print.
Whether you love or hate animal prints, these three things about animal prints are ought to-know.
1. Animal Prints are Neutrals
Contrary to what other women think about animal print, this print is actually a neutral. It stands beside your classic blacks, browns and whites. The only difference is that, while most of your basic neutrals are meant to tone down a statement piece, animal print does the reverse. It quickly transforms an ordinary look into something extraordinary.
2. Animal Print Blends with Bright Colors
Colorblocking or color pop styling are not the only ways to wear colors, they’re actually perfect to pair with an animal print. It’s like blending two statement pieces together – a vibrant color and a wild print – to create a neutralized combo. Both statements standout, so you need not worry that the eyes are drawn only to your print or your color, they’re focusing on your outfit as a whole.
3. Animal Prints Can be Worn to Work
More women, in fact more than you can ever imagine, are searching for tips on how to wear animal prints to work. These over-achieving chicks are willing to brave this luxurious prints even at the office and they´re on the right path because animal prints actually can be worn to work.
Since you need to look more professional than trendy, stick to animal print pieces that are accents, such as a pair of python or zebra print pumps, or an animal print satchel. If you want to wear a larger piece, a leoprad print dress or a tiger jacket, always tone it down. Meaning…wear it with lots of neutral, low-key pieces.
So, tell me BonBon Rose Girls readers, what do you think of animal prints? Are you a fan of these statement prints? How do you style them?
