Turn Back the Clock with Pantene and Holiday Hairstyles

holiday hair

I had super thick hair for most of my life. In fact, it was so thick I almost found it to be a nuisance at times. That all changed this year. Thanks to a thyroid condition and having my lil’ lady bean, my mane has been reduced by half. I didn’t know how good I had it until it was gone. Since my hair is naturally wavy, it just looks better with volume, especially when I let my natural texture shine through. So, when Pantene offered me the chance to try out their AgeDefy line, I was elated! One of the issues it tackles is thin looking hair which has totally been my nemesis the last several moths. The line also helps fight other signs of hair aging like breakage, split ends, frizz, unruly grays, lackluster color and dryness.

I decided to test out my AgeDefy products along with some new holiday hairstyles to help turn the clock back and make this thirty something mama look younger! I turned to a stylist friend to give me a youthful, yet sophisticated updo since wearing your hair off your face is a great way take some years off! Plus, updos are perfect to rock at holiday soirees. I had been using the AgeDefy line for about a week when she did my hair and she said that the products had given me volume, yet were  smoothing at the same time. I don’t know about you, but volume without frizz certainly makes me happy! And since she was giving me a braided updo, getting rid of my frizziness was extra important. Frizz and braids just don’t mix lovelies! Here’s a peek at what my hair looked like before worked she my tresses into that fabulous braided updo!

So, to recreate this holiday hairstyle, blow dry your hair with a round brush concentrating on roots. Use hot air and then set with the cool button for extra volume. Next, split hair into two ponytails, one on the top and one on the bottom. Then create a small French braid on each side at the crown. Braid the two ponies, then twist the two braids around each other bobby pinning as you go along. What you get is a modern, fresh, youthful, yet elegant holiday hairstyle. Don’t be afraid of braids! They can work at any age and make for gorgeous holiday hairstyles.  A multitude of interwoven braids gave this style a polished look. So, I didn’t end up looking like a teenager, but I still turned back the clock!

I can’t believe how much thinner my hair is after having my munchkin. It’s starting to grow back, but I’m worried what will happen when I want another little one! I wish I would never have tanned when I was a teenager, too. I worry about the damage I did!

    Hi Kristin,

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and commenting – I appreciate it so much. I’ll be back to keep up with you ladies as well – wonderful blog.

I also had a lot more and much thicker hair pre-hyperthyroidism and babies … very sad that it just never seems to get back to its original state.

I love this updo of yours – its so elegant and feminine … and your top is absolutely gorgeous.

    Have a wonderful day

I’m actually a fan of Pantene, but I’ve never tried this line. I will now! Like you, I’ve always had tons of hair, but 10 years ago, my thyroid went haywire and ever since I lose tons and tons of hair. It’s a bit ridiculous. I’m surprised I’m not bald. It’s a good thing I had extra to spare.

I adore your updo. It’s so, so pretty.
