What to Wear in Family Photos
You may remember the holiday photos tips from our pro photography friend Corey Best of Best part photography that we posted a couple weeks ago. Well, today we’re going to expand even further on that as day 5 of the 12 Days of Holiday Outfits Challenge with Jo-Lynne Shayne and Cyndi Spivey of Walking in Grace & Beauty is What to Wear in Family Photos…
We’ve been taking family photos around the holidays for as long as I can remember. I have so much fun selecting our color scheme each year and styling everyone’s looks. For me, the most important element is color. It shows up beautifully in photos. I’m not opposed to a black and white look, but I must have a pop of bold color in there! I also love mixing prints. A bold plaid print with a subtle stripe, for instance, can be so pretty!
Don’t be afraid to go beyond your own little family. A couple years back, my sister and her husband joined us for our photo sesh, so we could give a photo of all us to my mama as a holiday gift. We all went with shades of blue and pops of red! So, does that answer your what to wear in family photos question lovelies?
And don’t forget to check out our other holiday outfits…Thanksgiving (plus $250 Rack Room Shoes giveaway), Black Friday Shopping, Work Holiday Party, Home Holiday Party.

We generally try to coordinate our outfits. I like it when we match.
Yep,I love a nice coordinated look!
we have not done a family photo in years, it seems all our xmas cards are only the kids.. Sad face.
You need to get in those pictures mama!
Those are great pictures! I love the way the red really pops!
Thanks! 🙂
I plan to take photos with my young adults tis year at the beach.
What sweet photo’s! We do red’s a lot in our Christmas photo’s. Which reminds me I better go take some photo’s of my kids and get our cards made!
Great ideas!
I always like family photos where everyone is dressed in relaxed comfy clothes.
I always enjoy selecting the holiday color scheme. Last year was red and white, this year, who knows?!
We only have four in the house now, but I always add my oldest, his wife and their daughter, and my second-oldest who is grown and in a place of his own, to our cards. 🙂
Very cute pics – The clothes and colors make a great pic.
I always have so much trouble picking colors for family portraits. I’m so glad that I came by today to check this out. Now I have some new ideas about what we can do. We’re thinking of an impromptu photo shoot for the holidays, and a pop of color with blue jeans could be great, or a striped sweater affair with a little plaid here and there!
I love outdoor photos, so we usually do ours for Mother’s day! And we love to give it our own flair…great colors and lots of “action shots” lol
For our last family photo, we did red and black. This was actually our only photo shoot together! I think we’re due for another!
I usually let the kids wear whatever they feel comfortable in but I usually dress up my toddler.
I always try to have everyone coordinating when we do family photos.
I would love to see some more of your outfit choices.
Keep tuning in! We’ve featured five looks so far and there are 7 more to come in the 12 Days of Holiday Outfits challenge!
I do like the look. Everyone looks so nice.
