Appetizer in a Pinch
Today’s post comes from one of my dearest friends, Kate. She’s pretty much a kitchen goddess, so we’re thrilled to have her! – Megan
Hello Lovelies, I don’t know about you, but during the summer months I always find myself opting for easy, no fuss, few ingredients, no bake recipes. Here’s one of my favorites, using only avocados, limes and garlic.
Take a ripe Avocado (brown and soft to the touch) cut it in half and remove the pit.
Slide your knife between the meat and the skin of the avocado to easily remove the meat. Chop the avocado into small pieces, the smaller the pieces the easier to mash.
Set aside avocado in a mixing bowl. Next, rough chop a garlic clove into fine pieces and add to the mixing bowl. Lastly, add fresh lime juice from half a lime.
Using a fork, mash the avocado until smooth, forming a dip.
Add more lime or sea salt to taste. Serve as a dip with pits chips, tortillas, veggies or anything you have on hand. It also goes great alongside grilled meats.
This appetizer is perfect whether kicking back at home or to bring to a bbq. I used to refer to it as avocado-mash but thanks to my Venezuelan boyfriend I have learned to call it Guasacaca. So feel free to not only impress your loved ones with this tasty dish but also your knowledge of Venezuelan cuisine. Enjoy!
ps – And here Kate is with Jake! I just can’t resist this pic!
