Fall Trend: Wide Leg Trousers
Hi, my name is Kristin and I’m addicted to skinnies. I’ve been rockin’ skinny leg jeans for so long now that I scarcely remember wearing other silhouettes. That is beyond pitiful. I think it’s about time that I switched things up a bit, don’t you? Seeing as wide leg pants are going to be a popular style for fall, I figure that’s as good a place as any to start. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not one to subscribe to trends. I tend to wear what I like…plain and simple. But it makes shopping a whole lot easier if what I like is “in style.” I’m the mama of a toddler, I don’t have the time to hunt for diamonds in the rough on my rare shopping excursions. The dude waits for no man or WOman. Unless I’ve got him stashed with a babysitter, I have to get in and get out. So, when I’ve got “trendy” items on my shopping list, things go a bit more seamlessly.
And although it’s not quite fall yet, we all can totally rock this look now. All it would take to make my example ensemble fall appropriate would be the addition of a cardy! So, do ya’ll plan on sportin’ wide legs any time soon? What will you be wearing with them? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Yay! Wide-legged pants are coming back in style! My closet is full of them and I still love to wear them… at least now I’ll be in style again!
I would wear wide leg trousers if and only if I am wearing heals! I am so short- too short maybe- that I wouldn’t take the chance otherwise!

You know I vaguely remember wearing wide leg trousers back when they were in for a while and I liked them. I would so sport this look again, however, my wide leg trousers will have to be just a simple wide leg- not something extreme!

Yes! Thank goodness wide legs are still in because this is ALL I WEAR! No skinny jeans, etc. for me! And a drapy cardi or vest…another staple of mine!

Love wide leg pants paired with a super fitted cashmere top and high heels. My favorite are wide leg jeans with a black sweater or camel wool pants with a fitted top. I also love navy and wool wide leg pants. I think it is such a classic chic look paired with lots of gold preppy bracelets and a killer bag. ( can you tell how much I love this look!!! 🙂 )

I love the wide leg trend! I bought the Seven for All Mankind “Dojo” jeans last winter to give me a break from all the skinnies in my closet. I fell in love with them. I’m thinking about ordering the one’s above as a birthday present to myself. 🙂
wow! I LOVE those jeans, too bad they are crazy expensive and do not fit my budget. But I am sure I can find a cheap alternative.
I absoluely love this outfiot post, especially the metallic tote! I, for one, am ahuge fan of skinnies, even being a pear shape and all! I can’t remember the last time I bought a pair of boot cut jeans 🙂

I have to agree about changing it up from skinnies to wide leg. It’s a nice change of pace. I think wearing a top with some type of shape and fit works best otherwise you risk looking too shapeless. I like the idea of also pairing a fitted tee or tank under a cute open cardigan like you have posted above. I think it looks effortless and chic! Love the HoH necklace!
I sooo wish I could rock some skinny jeans. My 7 year old has a couple of pair and they look so cute!! I will definitely be wearing some wide legs when I get back into some pants in cooler weather! Love ’em!
Fellow skinny addict feels your pain! I think part of the reason they’re such a staple in my wardrobe is the no-brainer footwear situation. Whether it’s flats, heels or boots, they all work with skinnies. Wide legs require more thought (and do not work during a Canadian winter). But I’ve been wearing the same silhouette for so long I’m boring myself! So which philosophy should I subscribe to: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” or “Variety is the spice of life”?

I’m with you on skinnies… Ever since they were IN, I couldn’t bring myself to wear anything else. Althoughm I do own some straight leg pants, but those are still with a tendency to slim at the ankle lol Not sure I’ll be able to fully swith to a flared style any time soon
I really stick to bootcut or superskinny, but those 7’s sure are lustworthy! Wide legs tend to be too long on me, and I’m a little too lazy to get them hemmed.

I kind of like the wide leg look EXCEPT I worry that for a short gal like myself who’s got some curves going on it’ll just make me look shorter and wider. Maybe I’m crazy though?

I love wide-legged pants! They are especially flattering if the jacket/ t-shirt/ top you pair them with is slightly shrunken — not too tight! — but just so. And if you wear them with heels you look so much taller too — which never hurts, right? 🙂
I am a big fan of wideleg, because I am a pear shape and have large hips and thighs.

I LOVE wideleg pants! I’d be wearing them right now if it weren’t about 150 degrees outside (I opted for shorts today). Skinny jeans have never looked quite right on me, so I’m ready for that trend to go away!

I wish I could rock 7’s but for some reason they don’t work well with my body type. I have a huge collection of wide legged pants because I was so late on the skinny jean thing!

I feel the same way about fashion – I follow the trends I like and leave the rest by the wayside! But I am kind of excited about the wide leg trend b/c I have a bunch of wide leg items!
I will never part with my skinnies but I would totally add wide legs to my wardrobe. I used to have a bunch of pairs but donated them when the trends changed. I should remember that trends come back!! Since my new job requires business casual dress (current job = jeans and a tee daily lol) I’ll be doing some shopping. Wide leg khaki’s might just do the trick!

I can’t tell you how happy this makes me! I am a cardigan QUEEN! I seriously have so many my friends laugh at me. But I love them and they tie in all my looks together! And I just bought a pair of wide legged pants from Anthropologie, unknowing how this would carry into Fall. But I am glad to see they will. Woohoo!

I’ve been enjoying my wide-legged sailor pants.I think jeans are the hardest things to wear in either wide-leg or high-waist versions. Other pants material looks better than denim in those styles.
I love the wide leg look. I have a pair from Urban Outfitters that I adore – except I always get super paranoid that my man-thighs look too huge!
I don’t know if Ill be able to swap out my skinnies 🙂 The wide legs are cute though!
Some of my favorite dress pants are wide leg, they are so flattering. And you can never have enough pairs of red shoes, I have four!!!

I’ve loved wide-leg trousers for a while! It’s the only shape I can wear for white pants — it slims rather than makes me look fatter.
I tend to wear more fitted or tailored tops with them since they are a bit billowy and I don’t want to appear as a hippie.

I love both the skinny and wide-legged look. the wide leg with a tighter fit top is a great way to get that great 70s vibe to rock my day. the wide leg jeans in the photo above could even be added to any business casual day!

I’m always cautious to wear wide-leg trousers because I’m so short….afraid it might shrink me more.

I about peed my pants when I got that dress. When she was walking toward me with it – the whole thing was like slo-mo. It was nuts and hilarious and perfect!!
Now onto the wideleg…I wore white widelegs on the blog for a nautical post a month or so ago. You know I’m in a toss up over these. I just don’t know…prolly not any wideleg 7’s. mmmmmno. I love my skinnies!! Maybe a supremely straight with a wide bell flare for mayjah drama?

i do like the wide leg trouser when it’s done well. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect 70s jean that will look good on my small frame. I would totally pair them with a fitted three quarter sleeve blouse and rockin wedges.
I been a fan of wide legs or awhile now! I like to think they hide the hip width.
Wide leg trousers are flattering on just about anyone. Who wouldn’t want their waist to look tiny and their legs to look a mile long. Especially if you pair them with the platforms everyone has been wearing lately, wide leg pants can add a few inches to your legs! Just be sure to wear them with a fitted top, otherwise your outfit will look baggy and sloppy and your shape will get lost.
i do love my skinnies but it’s nice to see a little change of scenery!

I have some wide leg, dark denim trouser jeans that I’m crazy about. And they REQUIRE heels!
Oh, and I agree, I REALLY need to start tucking my t’s again.
i had a pair of wide legs a couple seasons ago – finally lost all the baby weight, had them taken in twice, and can’t take them in anymore. those 7s look nice – wish i had a Nordstrom. might try Banana – and i’ll probably wear them with a fitted tee, chunky platforms and one of my own necklaces 🙂
