A Playroom Update

Playroom UpdateLast week I shared that one of my main goals this year is to finish out the rooms that have been started, starting with this playroom area. The goal is to give it both a playful yet adult vibe so that we can all enjoy spending time in it, after all its open to the kitchen area on the other side. However, sometimes you have to reflect on where you’ve been to know where you’re going. I believe the infamous Mathew McConaughey said something like that in those car commercials. Very wise, Matthew! But truly it does make me feel better to step back a bit and see what has been done in the past year since we’ve moved in. The photo above is what it currently looks like, however the two below are the progression of how we got there. It may not look that dramatic but the wallpaper has been striped, the walls painted and recess lighting added. All of those feel pretty major!

Playroom Update

Playroom UpdateYou may also notice that some toy storage and adult seating have been included which make the room way more functional!

Playroom UpdateI still love this white shelf and storage boxes I picked up from Target in the fall. And of course now with the addition of Max the 4moms mamaRoo is a nice place for him to relax while we sip coffee play trains. I haven’t added much new baby gear in the mix with Max but the mamaRoo has been a welcome addition to the house, he loves it!

Playroom UpdateThe mantle got a refresh with some beach photos from the summer and this fun metal Sea sign I picked up last summer.

Playroom UpdateThis Margot Crate and Barrel love seat is the perfect size for small talk or curling up with a book. I am actually finding that I prefer a sofa with some structure since it means I’m not constantly fluffing cushions.

Playroom UpdateAnd a small side table I found on a Pottery Barn clearance is perfect for my mug and some light reading, ha!

Playroom UpdateSo that’s where we’re at. I’m feeling great about how far we’ve come and now just need to round out the room with the details. That’s way more fun than wallpaper stripping so here’s to the final push!
