I’m thrilled to bring you a wonderful guest post from Jo-Lynne Shane of Musings of a Housewife. In a fun turn of events, we decided to swap spaces today. I just knew that you lovely readers would love her because one, she comes up with the most delicious dishes and I know y’all appreciate a good recipe…And two, she’s a fashion lovin’ mama just like me and so many of you! So, without further adieu, meet Jo-Lynne:

I’m so excited to be guest posting for Kristin and Megan today! I love to cook and experiment with recipes that delight my family, and with summer approaching I thought I’d try out a recipe with strawberries. I perused Pinterest for some inspiration and decided to try my hand at Fresh Strawberry Glazed Donuts.

I highly recommend purchasing a 6-count donut pan. It’s not a big investment, and it’s just fun to have. Donut recipes are abundant right now, and I guarantee your kids will LOVE them.

This recipe is great because the donut part is just a simple vanilla cake donut that you can use with ANY topping.

I used a fresh strawberry glaze to top these.

I know, you’re drooling already!

Trust me, these are truly easy to make. For the topping, you just puree fresh strawberries in a food processor or blender.

And then you blend it with powdered sugar to make a runny frosting consistency.

And dip the donuts in the glaze.

Let them set a few minutes and then devour!

Here’s the recipe:

Fresh Strawberry Glazed Donuts

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4-6 fresh strawberries
  • 1 – 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 6-count donut pans with butter.
  2. Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in a mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the butter, buttermilk, egg and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Spoon batter evenly into donut pans – two or three tablespoons per donut.Bake for 11-14 minutes or until they bounce back at a light touch and are just beginning to brown.
  5. Allow the donuts to cool for 3-5 minutes and remove to a wire rack while you prepare the glaze.
  6. In a blender or food processor, puree the strawberries. Add powdered sugar by the half-cup until you get a the right consistency for a glaze. Pour the glaze into a shallow bowl.
  7. Dip each donut into the glaze and place on a rack to cool. Eat immediately.

Enjoy with a glass of cold milk or a cup of steaming hot coffee!!!

Now that you’re drooling, head on over to Musings of a Housewife for lots of food, fashion and family fun! And check out my guest post on DIY ikat Easter eggs.

Wow! Simple and yummy, just the way I like things. I really need to pick up one of those donut pans…the husband is a donut fanatic, but I’d rather make him baked ones than let him eat fried ones.

Hi these look super delicious, just wondering can you use normal soy or another kind of milk instead of butter milk? As our munchkins are allergic to dairy so couldn’t have buttermilk.

    Cheers Caroline 😊
