Brunch with a Twist, Tomato Tequila Cocktail

Spending my 20’s carefree as a city girl in Washington, DC, brunch on the weekends was a core part of our weekend. It was a time to catch up, laugh and, of course, relax with a fun cocktail on a lazy day.
Brunch is still a fun staple to the weekend, only now it often is more home based and has family guests and kiddos running around. Truly between all our friends and family visits, I joke that I run a bed and breakfast. I wouldn’t have it any other way! With all that company I like to make sure Sunday mornings are fun, pretty and casual. I tend to do a bigger brunch and of course that includes cocktails, often which start poolside. I mean, why not?
Bloody Marys are a brunch classic and the tomato juice just goes perfectly with eggs, hash browns and the majority of savory brunch foods. However, not everyone loves vodka, including my husband. So why not do a drink for brunch with a twist? Using the Hornitos Tequila Plata, I changed it up a bit with this Tomato Tequila Cocktail. It was a huge hit and really felt festive at the table! It also paired equally as well with eggs benedict and potatoes.

Tomato Tequila Cocktail
Ingredients:
1/3 cup tomato juice
2 ounces Hornitos® Tequila Plata
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
Tabasco sauce
Fresh cilantro for garnish, if desired
Directions: In a tall glass, combine tomato juice, tequila and lime juice. Add ice, a handful of Tabasco sauce dashes and stir. Add cilantro garnish if using.

Voila! An easy and perfect brunch cocktail!

That looks like a really great drink. The tomato must make it really fresh.
I prefer tequila to vodka but thought to use it in a bloddy mary. Thanks for the recipe.
I can see tequila with tomato. I’ll have to give it a try 🙂
This looks really good, I love the switch up of Tequila instead of Vodka! I am not a Vodka fan.
I love the sunflowers on that table! They are absolutely gorgeous!
What a delicious and refreshing cocktail!
I’ve always try tequila, but this one tomato? No. This look challenging to try it out.
This sounds like such a refreshing cocktail – I will have to try it, thanks!
These look delicious! I’ve never had a Hornito, but I think I need to try one now!
Hard to beat this as a great brunch beverage- my favorite meal!
What a lovely brunch cocktail! I actually have a bottle of Hornitos Tequila here. I think I need to make these!
