I know most of us are feeling like this winter weather may never end. Unfortunately, since we can’t all live in Florida or California (Kristin I’m looking at you!), many of us are left each year to find new and creative ways to entertain our kiddos indoors after each and every toy has been played with and abandoned. And while I think we’ve gotten over the major hump of winter, we may still have another month or so to come up with snow day entertainment. Cue the parent song and dance.
This past weekend was particularly bad in Maryland. We did make it out for a bit of sledding but the rest of the day left us inside. Rather than get the blues, we decided to throw Jake a little indoor beach party. I pulled out some beach towels, beach balls, and floats and we had a picnic in our festive beach attire, complete with sunglasses, swimsuits, and my Land’s End cover-up (stay tuned this afternoon for more fun with Land’s End from Kristin!).
Max also had to get his baby imaginary tan on, ha! Baby speedo…Squeal!
Of course we had to top off our picnic with ice cream cones!
It was amazing. We really pretended it was hot out and it made us all feel better and Jake had a total ball!
Once we were done with our basement beach, we headed upstairs to the bathtub for some “swimming”. I used a little battery operated bubble maker to keep the fun going and Jake loved swimming around in the warm water popping bubbles. I was even able to sneak in his hair washing with no complaints!
Overall, having an indoor beach party really kept us entertained for a few hours for free. We enjoyed it so much I’m actually considering blowing out the idea even more for next year’s birthday party. After all, why should summer birthdays have all the fun?!
Disclosure: All opinions and beach party ideas are our own, however we received Land’s End samples and compensation.
