Loving Little Black Dresses

As much as I love color, I’ll forever be in love with little black dresses. There is no end to the ways you can style them and, let’s face it, getting all dolled up every once and a while just feels good. Donning the LBD in your closet that never ceases to make you feel fabulous is a no brainer when you feel the need to get dressed up.

And little black dresses don’t have to be plain. While, I have several with no details that I jazz up with accessories, I’m loving the idea of LBDs that are jazzed up on their own. This little number from Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2011 collection comes to mind. You can check out the whole gorgeous collection here if you’re so inclined. Just check out the detail…It’s stunning no?

And it looks like the sheer trend will be continuing on through fall. Seeing as this is one that I haven’t attempted yet, I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl and I think I just might try it out in LBD form! I’m due for a new one as one of the last LBD’s that I bought was a polka dotted tulle number for Meg’s birthday celebration a couple years ago. You might remember this photo from a few weeks back. And look who was rockin’ a sheer frock. My bestie was ahead of the trend!

Now it’s time for me to go on the prowl. I’m on the lookout for the perfect sheer little black dress. Once I’m on a shopping mission, look out! And even if I don’t find that perfect LBD, I know I can always count on Megan to lend me hers. Bwah! That’s what best friends are for right? If you’re really loving the sheer look in little black dresses too, you must check out how Midtown Girl worked it! She looks seriously fabulush!

Interesting post. While I’m a disciple of the LBD, I must say that these days, I want anything but. Black isn’t my best color, so brown, grey and navy are becoming my neutral staples, but a girl ALWAYS needs a LBD or ten.

    Oh Kristin,
Black is my favourite when it comes to fashion…..when you look in my wardrode there is hardly any colour…..a little bit of grey, aubergine, white and brown !!

Someone please remind me again why I am not rich & can buy the little Stella #? The greatest thing about a black dress is just what you said Kristin, the lack of effort one needs to put-forth a good look. I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t look good in the right fitting LBD? Great inexpensive alternatives, love them both! Happy Monday girlies xo

I really am loving that French Connection dress – if only I could pull it off, I feel like it’s one of those dresses that would look really hot on some people. but awful on others.
You and Meg look gorgeous in that picture! πŸ™‚

You have great taste! I love those two LBD you choose. I am loving the sheer thing, as long as it’s not super revealing. It can definitely cross the line if done improperly, but if done well it can look gorgeous!

oh yes, lbd’s are the best. i bought one a couple weeks ago at a vintage sale and when i excitedly showed my shopping buddy she said ‘seriously mandy, another one??’ lol i guess i hadn’t been keeping track of how many i’d been acquiring…but you can never have too many…riiiight?
ps- i LOVE your polka dot number πŸ˜‰

That first dress reminds me of the one Camille ALMOST wore to an awards show on RHoBH.

Yes I know the show that well and yes I abbreviate the Real Housewives titles (like any true fan).

I’m not going to say I’m proud of the above, but I’m not ashamed either!

  14. Jaclyn says

My closet definitely has its share of lbd’s…anything black actually. That French Connection dress looks so interesting. I would love to see how it looks on.

I love it! You can really play with accessories when you have a black dress too. What inspiration, my roommate and I are going out to dinner on Friday and I think I’ll wear my little black dress!
