Don’t let Valentine’s Day pass you by this year without doing a family Valentine’s Day photo shoot! Read on for tips on what to wear!
Hi, my name is Kristin and I’m absolutely terrible at getting holiday cards out on time. I always have the best intentions. Really, I do. But, as per usual, life got in the way again this year and I just didn’t quite get my act together in time to make holiday cards happen. That being said, a couple years ago I was facing the same scenario when I was late, but I didn’t want to pass up on sending cards out completely. You know where this is going right? Why not send out Valentines?
We always receive the loveliest holiday cards, after all, and, trust me, I do want to return the favor to our loved ones. So, I had a thought, that I will be recreating again this year, but more on that later…A few years back Megan sent out Valentines instead of holiday cards and I remember it being such a pleasant surprise to find their family Valentine in the mail. Thus, our Valentine’s Day shoot was born. And just in case you like the idea too, I’m going to give you the skinny on what to wear for a family Valentine’s Day photo shoot!
What to Wear in Valentine’s Day Photos
With any family photo shoot, we’ve always chosen an accent color that picks up in everyone’s outfits. In year’s past we’ve done navy, coral, cobalt…I could go on and on. This year, though, our accent color was red. You can can’t go wrong with red when we’re talking about Valentine’s Day right? You could find red in my son’s shirt, my daughter’s dress, my lips and nails and even in the hubs’ socks. And what better palette to set off red than with neutral black and grey?
We’ve also always featured some mixed, yet coordinating prints of sorts in our family photo shoot outfits. Whether we’re talking about stripes and plaid or polka dots and gingham, those mixed prints added such a fun element to our photos. And the year we shot these Valentine’s Day photos was no different. The hubs rocked a large scale plaid, while my son sported gingham, and we even threw a third one into the mix, the lil’ lady bean’s polka dots. We really went for it that year. Haha!

We did winter shots a couple of years ago but I haven’t thought of doing ones for valentines before. Red was my favourite color when I was a kid too.. so much fun!

I love these family photos! Red is the perfect accent – and would be great for Christmas, as well. By the way – if you ever get tired of those shoes, I’ll take them!
