Croque Monsieur, The Best Ham Sandwich You’ll Ever Eat!

With one of my best friends living it up on a much earned Parisian vacation, I’ve been day dreaming about french food. So, when I found this little number in the Barefoot In Paris cookbook from the famed Ina Garten, it seemed like the perfect French recipe to try my hand out. For those who have never had a Croque Monsieur, it’s a common French treat often found in cafes and pubs. It means “crunchy mister” (weird) and takes ham, honey mustard, a cheesy milk sauce and white bread and bakes it into a rich and decadent sandwich.
Served with a side of greens with vinaigrette and a beer, it proved to be so delicious that I dare say it rivaled the cafes’ in Paris. Although they’ve got me on location!
Always on the hunt for entertaining lunch fare, I think the girls would love this and it would go great with white wine.
Here’s the recipe in a printable format. Happy eating!
