Happy Hour in the District

It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere!

Another fabulous friend of ours is stepping in to help out while we’re here in NYC. Check out her DC happy hour picks!

As a young single gal in the city I learned quickly all that DC had to offer! There is the history, the politics, the shopping…But the most important thing to discover is your favorite Happy Hour spot! Whether it’s a place to vent your work woes, check out cute guys, or not kill the bank after a couple of drinks, every Washingtonian has a must-have Happy Hour spot! Here are some of my faves!

Jaleo

sangria

This is one of Chef Jose Andres’s fabulous restaurants, that has a killer happy hour coined “Jaleo Hour” with $4 vino, cervezas, and their classic Sangria! And the $4 specials don’t end there; Jaleo is well-known for their authentic Spanish tapas including my personal fav, croquettas de pollo, little pieces of chicken fritter heaven!

Poste Moderne Brasserie

Located in the Hotel Monaco, Poste is a hidden gem that is a dream for Spring Happy Hours! It hosts locals in a gorgeous courtyard in the center of the hotel. Wine and beer specials flow along with their signature truffle fries, all for only $5 each!

Front Page

This is an oldie, but a goodie! This was my first happy hour in the city and I was introduced to the Front Page by your very own Bon Bon Rose Girl, Meg!  Located right in Dupont Circle, this is the place to meet and mingle for Happy Hour, Dinner, or Late Night! For me, the best day to indulge is on Thursday for the $2 coronas and FREE tacos! Need I say more?

Zaytinya

Opa! My Greek heritage brings me back to another Jose Andres restaurant, Zaytinya! I see a trend here, but I can’t deny the Chef’s ability to create an atmosphere that you are drawn to after a long work day! “Mezze Ora” or cocktail hour doesn’t disappoint here with $4 selected wine, beer, and apps! But all you really need here is the famous pita bread! Warm, toasty, and incredibly addicting…anyone hungry yet?

Mie N Yu

A Georgetown favorite, Mie N Yu holds a special place in my heart. I have celebrated Birthdays, New Year’s, and Bachelorette Parties, you name it and I always feel right at home! Happy Hour is no exception at Mie N Yu, with half off apps such as their tandoori chicken skewers and lamb kabobs. But to really get the full experience you must indulge in a Silk Road signature cocktail and there is no competition with the French Kiss! Despite the overwhelming flavors of raspberry, pineapple and cranberry, this drink is guaranteed to be a great conversation starter 😉

So, obviously I learned that you need MORE than one Happy Hour spot, but what can I say except is it 5 o’clock yet?
