Let me ask you a question friends. How do you feel about gingham? I consider it a classic print that always works for the warm weather months. A few years back I picked up an off the shoulder gingham top that is still in heavy rotation and ready to play again this spring. I can’t seem to get enough of the off the shoulder look in general and, in fact, just the other day I picked up some more off the shoulder pieces to rock this spring and summer.
And I actually brought my go-to off the shoulder gingham top with me on a jaunt to NYC and Annapolis. I found myself turning to it more than once during a five day trip. Bwah! So, clearly I’m feeling gingham as much as the off the shoulder trend! It must be the decidedly summery vibe that they both give off that grabs me. I know it’s really just the beginning of spring, but in my mind it’s already summer. Haha. There I was in New York all gingham and straw in a sea of black and leather. That’s how I roll.
Gingham Top Outfit for Spring
So, let’s talk about how to wear gingham right now. If you’re experiencing mild spring temps, like we are here in Florida, you can go the off the shoulder route too. I decided to embrace it’s inherently casual vibe and pair my off the shoulder gingham top with a cross body straw bag and my go-to flat metallic sandals.
I can’t tell you how many ways I’ve worn those shoes. Do yourself a favor and pick up some flat metallic sandals this season. I promise you’ll wear them time and time again for months on end! And they were the perfect partner for my frayed hem jeans which also still get a ton of play!

When I add new things to my closet, I try to really think through the purchase and make sure that what I’m buying will go with pieces I already own. You get so much more bang for your buck that way! Thanks to the versatility of both frayed hem jeans and metallic sandals, I’ve been able to style them loads of different ways. It has been the same scenario for my gingham top and cross body straw bag too!
In fact, I just may need to pick up some more gingham and straw pieces this season as well…Now that you know how to wear gingham in spring, I think it’s time to do a little shopping. Haha! And in case you too are loving gingham for spring, I shared some more gingham outfit inspo below!

Yes , I love the great look of the gingham top with the crossbody bag ! I’m going to wear my with a skirt & short . Back in the 70’s , gingham was very popular & I wore my navy blue peasant gingham top with white short . The skirt was a denim mimi . That was one of my sewing project in home eco . That was in jr. high .
