How to Wear Gingham

Last year I pretty much went all in with the off the shoulder trend and it’s carried on to this season as well. I can’t seem to get enough of that look and, in fact, just the other day I picked up some more off the shoulder pieces to rock this spring and summer. The off the shoulder dress I’ll be sharing next month, but I couldn’t wait to give you a peek at the darling off the shoulder gingham top that I snagged at Shopbop. I brought it with me on my jaunt to NYC and Annapolis last week and I found myself turning to it more than once during a five day trip. Bwah! So, clearly I’m feeling gingham as much as the off the shoulder trend! It must be the decidedly summery vibe that they both give off that grabs me. I know it’s really just the beginning of spring, but in my mind it’s already summer. Haha. There I was in New York all gingham and straw in a sea of black and leather. That’s how I roll.

So, let’s talk about how to wear gingham right now. I decided to embrace it’s inherently casual vibe and pair my off the shoulder gingham top with a cross body straw bag, also scored at Shopbop, and my go-to flat gladiator sandals. I can’t tell you how many ways I’ve worn those shoes. Do yourself a favor and pick up some metallic glads this season. I promise you’ll wear them time and time again for months on end! And they were the perfect partner for my frayed hem jeans which have also been getting a ton of play. They might be one of my favorite Stitch Fix scores yet!

When I add new things to my closet, I try to really think through the purchase and make sure that what I’m buying will go with pieces I already own. You get so much more bang for your buck that way! Thanks to the versatility of both these jeans and sandals, I’ve been able to style them loads of different ways. I have a feeling it will be the same scenario for my gingham top and cross body straw bag too!

Yes , I love the great look of the gingham top with the crossbody bag ! I’m going to wear my with a skirt & short . Back in the 70’s , gingham was very popular & I wore my navy blue peasant gingham top with white short . The skirt was a denim mimi . That was one of my sewing project in home eco . That was in jr. high .
