Girls Vacation With Royal Caribbean, Part I
Who doesn’t dream of getting away for a girls vacation with their bestie? I know Kristin and I both do, and with kiddos and houses and projects it has been increasingly harder for us to just unwind and catch up with each other over the years. So, we were thrilled when Royal Caribbean asked us to take a girls trip and experience one of their cruises. How awesome to get to spend 5 carefree days with my best friend before baby #2 makes our lives even more full?!?
We met in Ft. Lauderdale and boarded Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas. The ship was ready and waiting as we explored with fruity cocktails in hand. Being pregnant, each bartender was awesome at mixing up icy non-alcoholic drinks that still let me get in on the poolside fun.
We left the port of Ft. Lauderdale around 4 pm and after some fun by the pool, we opted for a delicious dinner, then promptly headed to our rooms to crash after a full day of travel. We woke up in Key West, FL, one of my favorite towns, you might recall from these posts last year. One of the cool things about Key West is that it boasts the only non-NYC location of our favorite brunch spot, Sarabeth’s. The food is delicious and the southern charm is adorable. We then explored the town on foot making sure to stop for cute boutiques, drinks, and of course a Key West specialty, chocolate dipped frozen key lime pie on a stick (prego lady’s dream snack FYI). We also checked out the Hemingway House and oohed and ahhed over the historic home filled with Hemingway’s fine furniture, artifacts and of course cats! Did we mention we’re both cat ladies? Haha!
It was then time to board and continue on our journey. After another tasty meal complete with fabulous dinner companions (two super fun families…we didn’t forget you Dave!) we checked out the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers and the show was great! There was an Abba medley that might have had the BonBon Rose Girls singing along to Dancing Queen. It was moments like those that gave us time to reconnect and laugh the day away, a rare treat.
