It’s no secret, I love all things chevron. I mean I LOVE chevron. I think I love the pattern more than ikat and that is really saying something my friends.  Knowing of my sordid chevron love affair, my friend Diane didn’t miss a beat when I told her I was on a mission to create DIY Chevron Easter Eggs. I mean how cute would that be (insert high-pitched girly squeal)!?!  A few googles and text sessions later and we had a rough game plan on how to create DIY chevron Easter eggs.  I think they turned out pretty cute and notice we didn’t just stick to one pattern.  We had a great afternoon dying eggs with her adorable son, and of course Jake had to get in on the action as well.  Here’s the break down:

DIY Chevron Easter Eggs

Step 1: Use electrical tape to create the patterns you want on hard-boiled white eggs to create your chevron Easter eggs.

Note: Don’t be a dummy like me and buy brown eggs because that’s what you normally eat.  The dye won’t show silly!  Put them back on that grocery shelf and get white ones or you’ll be making a second trip!

Step 2: Mesmerize baby with egg designing skills.

Step 3: Prepare egg dye according to packet direction.  We went for the vibrant color option which meant we first dissolved the tablets in vinegar as directed and then added water.

Step 4: Place egg on spoon or wand.

Step 5: Submerge eggs into dye until desired colors are reached.

Step 6: Let eggs dry.  Please note that my genius friend suggested mini-muffin pans as drying racks and they worked perfectly!

Step 7: Once dry, remove the electrical tape to reveal pattern.

Ta da! A beautiful chevron Easter egg is revealed!

I just love how using the electrical tape turned out! It was very easy and these eggs are now sitting pretty as a centerpiece on our dinner table.  I’m actually kind of digging that basket weave look of the orange egg best. Which one is your favorite?
