Valentine’s Day Decorating Party
Hello to all you fabulous Bon Bon Rose readers! It’s Jackie from Jackie Fogartie Events and I’m back with a post that’s dripping with pink, red and sprinkles – a Valentines Day cookie and cupcake decorating party for kids! If your kids are stir-crazy this cold winter, warm them up with a frosting-filled sugar high! Here are some tips!
Be Smart – think of the mess!
I know, I know, the thought of frosting and sprinkles all over your kitchen makes you want to cry, but I promise the kids can have fun without making a huge mess. Use a plastic Valentine’s Day tablecloth (found anywhere this time of year, mine was from Michaels), scrapbook paper for placemats and paper doilies for an added layer. Once the kids are done decorating, simply gather everything up and throw it in the trash!
Keep it simple:
No need to complicate things with fancy recipes, simply use box cake mix for cupcakes and sugar cookie mix for the cookies. Place the un-decorated cookies in the center of the table for easy access. Use cupcake liners to house different sprinkles at each kids place setting and set out bowls of frosting at each end of the table.

I used alphabet stickers on the edge of each paper placemat for “assigned” seating. In addition to being totes adorbs, the kids all got to find their names, proving that you can have fun while learning a little something.
Make sure that the kiddos have something they can take their treats home in, particularly something cute like these polka dot boxes from Michaels. They will love taking treats home for mom, dad or whoever!
One MAJOR word of advice – take pictures BEFORE the kids have at it! As soon as the kids get a hold of frosting, sprinkles and cupcakes, your cute tablescape is a goner! Oh, and the kids may be on a major sugar high after the party- but hey, Valentine’s Day only comes around once a year, right?! It’s a great playdate for kids (and moms too…)!

Haha! Me too!
super cute!!!
So adorable right?
Love this idea! What age range do you think this is appropriate for?
I would think even little ones as tiny as like two would be able to join in the fun with supervision!
Oh how fun, I want to join!
The kiddos at this party were ages 2-5. The kids needed help spreading icing on the cupcakes/cookies but they could do everything else!! It was fun and not just for Valentines Day.
So cute! So creative and fun!
