Work Wear Wednesday: How to Style Denim for Work

Ok, most offices do allow some form of denim for work. For some its all the time and others its just on Friday. Whatever your dress code states, if your not working from home, its important to make sure that your look is still polished and professional.

For this dressed up denim look I paired a pair of dark skinny jeans with a vibrant floral v-neck blouse from Ann Taylor. Its a great length and I love the pop of color it provides! A pair of black suede pumps with a gold heel are both fun and conservative.

Of course accessorizing is a way to really show some fun and personality when dressing for the office. I’m a huge fan of stella and dot and just got this Rebel Ring and the delicate Aurora Necklace. For other bolder looks I plan on layering the Aurora Necklace but it also works on its own which is nice.

To dress up denim for the offices here in Washington, DC, I tend to make sure to follow a few simple guidelines.

First, no distressed denim. I just can’t walk into meetings with holes in my jeans even though that tends to be my favorite looks.

Second, if the fit is a little on the tighter side, I make sure to pair it with a longer blouse or tunic. If you want to be taken seriously, it really helps not to show the whole monty on your way out the door!
