We’re loving leopard mules and fall layers now that the summer heat has left us. Come see how we styled these two together!
Cooler temps are sneaking in. Despite my best attempts to hold on to summer, fall is creeping up on me. Thankfully fall fashion, PSLs and football help ease the pain of saying goodbye to those long carefree days. And with the change in season I’m realizing more than ever that I’m in major need of a closet clean out (ok more like a massive overhaul). I have really challenged myself to wear what I have to see what works and what needs to go. This was so helpful over the summer and I rediscovered items long forgotten. I also realized it was time to pull an Elsa and “Let It Go” for a number of has been items.
And here lies the power of a pair of new shoes. I snagged these leopard mules this summer during the Nordstrom sale and just love them. They are so comfortable and totally on trend. So much so, in fact, that I was able to shop my closet for the rest of this look. And did I mention that these leopard mules totally feel like a closet staple? Somehow they seem to go with so much!
To get that cozy fall look that I’m sporting here, it’s all about layering. My short sleeved denim shirt works as a great base. Layering a chunky knit on top of it looks cute, yet doesn’t feel too hot or bulky. And I live for my black jeans. On a rainy day like this skinny jeans can slide right from mules into rain boots with no problem.
Now let us talk fall accessories. This is another area I love to layer come fall. In summer I normally keep my accessories simple since I’m in and out of the pool so much. But come fall I add in stacks and stacks of bracelets, more rings and layered necklaces galore.
And, of course, a brown saddlebag always screams fall vibes. This is one I bought from a street vendor in Florence and its school girl charm just called to me. I know it’s going to be on serious repeat this season!
Overall, this is a pretty simple fall look to recreate. If you need fall fashion inspiration, don’t forget to check out what’s in your closet first. You probably already have plenty of layers just waiting for you to mix them up. And a good pair of new shoes can be all the inspiration you need! Or if you are loving sweater weather, check out this kimono style sweater Kristin styled recently. It’s a layering powerhouse too!
