Sarah Burton’s Alexander McQueen Collection Has Give Me Butterfly Fantasies
In case you haven’t heard…Our latest giveaway is a gorgeous handbag!

Now that it’s been a few days since Sarah Burton debuted her first solo collection for Alexander McQueen at Paris Fashion Week, I’m sure many of you have had the opportunity to pour over the images of this fanciful collection. Strewn with whimsical materials such as pheasant feathers, corn husks and faux butterflies, the general consensus seems to be that Ms. Burton’s designs would have made our beloved Mr. McQueen proud and I tend to agree.
While the show still evoked the drama that we’ve all come to expect from McQueen, it clearly was a mix of McQueen’s influence and Burton’s aesthetic. I found the result to be utterly delightful and what drew me in most were the butterflies. The dude is flat out obsessed with butterflies or, flutterflies as he insists they’re called, right now. I think he would be elated if his mama scored the killer butterfly adorned stilettos from above don’t you? HA! Seeing as I probably won’t be adding those beauties to my wardrobe anytime soon, I found some other butterfly themed pretties that might tide me over until I can convince the hubs that McQueen heels are completely practical. Any guesses on how long that will take me?
So, what did ya’ll think of the collection? Did any particular pieces jump out at you?

That orange dress reminds me of candy corn…wild and wonderful! (I must be hungry from your previous post! Ha!)
Kristin I am right with you on the butterflies…I totally hauled out yet another tanktop this morning prepping for the blast of 80 degree weather coming this weekend (argh). The tank has butterflies!! I kinda wish that first dress and the darling shoes would make their way to my house…
And damn that J.Crew for sending my wallet into seizures!! Throw me a rope!

Well I love all things butterflies so you know I’m loving this!
Gorgeous Alexander collection! And I love your choice of the vintage butterfly ring! Kisses Kristin!
I like this “new” butterfly look. I admit, that although I like the butterflies, Mariah Carey killed them for me for a long time. Maybe now I won’t feel like an overgrown child wearing them!
I adore the color, pattern and texture of that dress fabric! It’s absolutely brilliant!
Your little guy is so cute…flutterflies…haha…so funny! 🙂
Butterflies alway make me smile! And remind me of Mariah Carey, lol! I totes need a butterfly ring in my life <3
The spring McQueen is beautiful. I’m sure many are happy. Maybe even relieved that it’s exquisite. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t seen the collection yet. But I sure love the collection you came up with. The black butterfly ring is super cute!
That orange dress is perfection. They really did pick the perfect predecessor.
I had a look at the collection and thought that Sarah Burton did a great job. There was this gorgeous fairy-like dress which I loved!

i’ve got butterflies too (;
So gorgeous! I love the butterfly-adorned shoes on the runway, those are stunning. Feels so weird to be pining for butterfly-adorned things in fall, but I love it! Hope you both have a great weekend 🙂
Kristin, what on earth is boo-berry cereal?!
This collection is very much in the McQueen mold without aping his aesthetic completely. And, let’s face it, you just can’t. McQueen’s talent was a once in a generation happening.
But with this collection you still see the craftsmanship and the creativity which so excited those who followed his career, but you also see the necessary transition that’s taking place. The clothing is less hyper-sexual and more like walking works of art, though not in a Victor & Rolf-type of way. More wearable, more accessible, yet still unique and reeking of High Fashion.
Sarah Burton knocked it out of the park this time around. I look forward to what she does in the future.
Awww, flutterflies 🙂 Gorgeous picks–I love that Juicy necklace.
Love anything hast o do with butterflies. I love this collection..absolutely outstanding!!
Btw, I’ve got butterflies, too!
Big hugs!
B xx

I love butterflies too. I think I’ll stick to jewelry. Not quite ready to dive in with the whole dress!
This collection is one of my absolute favorites – so, so beautiful. I love the alt butterfly pieces you picked, especially the one by Wendy. Wish I could afford to buy that for you! LOL
I thought the collection was stunning and that Sarah Burton did a wonderful job. Loved the butterfly pieces as well – especially the shoes! And I was so in love with those last few spectacular gowns that went down the runway.
