The Sauder Experience: How to Style a Bookshelf

One thing we always seem to be lacking in this house is storage. With a growing family, more bins and shelves are always in demand. So, when Sauder offered me the chance to select a piece of furniture to try out, I knew immediately that I would go for a large shelving unit. Hence, today’s topic…How to style a bookshelf!

Not only do the kids have toys and craft supplies and who knows what else cluttering up our home, but my super smart hubs has a large and in charge book collection that his current bookshelf just can’t house anymore. It’s overflowing and ruining the chic vibe I’m trying to create in our living room.

As I perused the Sauder website, I had trouble narrowing down my selection. Not only do they have a slew of shelving options, but I was almost sidetracked by the desks too. I just recently got a new one myself, but the hubs could use a new one too…right? Haha! I had to tell myself to focus on the task at hand. Books do not belong stacked on top of each other in such a way that one can’t be removed without the whole bunch of them tumbling down.

So, I set off to find a bookshelf that could house our box and potentially some toys. When I came across the Barrister Lane Collection Tall Bookshelf I knew I had found the one. The ash grey color of the wood was so unique and I knew it would play nicely with the silver accents I already have in the room.

Once I placed my order, the bookshelf arrived in no time. And although it arrived chipped, I contacted customer service and replacement pieces were sent out immediately. So, the hubs didn’t have to wait long to put together our new furniture. By the way, he said the directions were clearly laid out and it was very simple to assemble!

I finally have a place to display our favorite books, some neglected decorative pieces AND there is plenty of room for baskets. I love the mix of textures and colors. So, those teeny tiny toys I’m always stepping on have a home that’s out of the way. Score!

So, what are your tips for how to style a bookshelf lovelies?
